Second Attempt at Stand-up Comedy

First attempt is hard to judge. I think my stuff was OK, but a lot of people laughed pretty hard. I had a lot of family and friends of my brother there to support me and it was a tribute for him and each comedian who came retired some of his jokes.

I won't have as much family tonight, so I'm anxiously awaiting for my first flop joke where no one laughs and I stand there awkwardly not knowing what to do. I get stage fright pretty bad too.

Dude Im sure your going to be great! I'd try to help but the funniest joke I have is;

What did the 1 penny say to the other penny? We make sense(cents)! :) Good Luck Archie

yeah you could do a whole conversation of pennies talking to each other "a penny for you thoughts" - "no, a penny for YOUR thoughts" - "I asked you first..." etc.
then segue into something about giving some reviled public figure "your two cents"

That could maybe be funny if done well?

ok, maybe not, but good luck tonight! If I find something funny tonight here in Chicago I'll laugh in your honor.

Suggestion. Always have a notepad. If you are some where and see something you think is dumb or weird, write it down, go home and flip it as a joke. Get the crowd to think, "he's absolutely right!" Involve them that way with situations they've most likely have faced before.

well, even though I fell asleep before I found anything funny enough to laugh about for you (I figured the Cubs didn't count) I hope your show went well! let us know

For my first "official" time, I guess I did alright. I'm pretty sure my lack of stage time showed and my material wasn't executed as planned. I actually accidentally skipped some of my favorite stuff - my mind went blank. I only had 3 minutes, but it was fun. If I do it again, I plan on practicing at open mic before opening for someone.
