Second Attempt at Stand-up Comedy

That would be awesome. I'm thinking about having my stage name be Archie Moses anyways.

I would own hecklers like Joe Rogan and roast them like Jeff Ross. :D

Good idea.

Also I'm the opposite of that whenever I set in the front row and things may not be going well for the comedian or it's part of their act I'm the one they target. Guess I'm an obvious mark skinny red head with obvious shy traits, not that I mind laughing at myself and it's good fun just hate the attention of people looking at me.
One time on a comedic magician act after a couple of the comedians gave me a hard time he called me on stage to help and it was way WAY cool, after I got over my face feeling like it was on fire.

You should send me some of your material Archie... I've written/edited comic stuff before. I've never performed, but I have a good ear for organization and getting the most out of a joke.

Clearly.

I can count on one hand the amount of times that I've laughed at a post that SimpleHeeler has made over the last 5 years.

To each his own...

I'm just offering my help in something I have experience with.

About 2 years ago, I started doing open MIC's at Wise Guys West Valley. They went really well and soon I was opening for comics at the Wise Guys Ogden (much closer to home). I had really good luck with it. I started at about 3 minutes and after a few weekends I was up to about 7-10 minute sets.

I did it for a few months and realized that if you want to be a legit stand-up comic, you have to be ALL IN. I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend my weekends bouncing around Wise Guy locations across the Wasatch Front.

It's funny that Archies started this thread when he did. I've been seriously comtemplating starting back up for quite a few months now, but I haven't wanted to do so unless I'm ready to full-on commit and see exactly where I could take this thing. After much deliberation, I've decided to give it another shot. This Weds night I'm going to go to the Open Mic @ Trolley Square. Archie, Trout, if you guys decide on going, lemme now.

And Archie, I can totally relate to being so nervous you forget some of your best material. My very first open mic, I completely went blank and just started ripping on various people in the crowd. My best advice is do a very detailed write-up of your set and memorize it as if it were a script.

I've seen The Dude's driver, Dom Irrera, a few times. Last time, I was next to the stage, five feet from him or so. In fact, I had my legs stretched out onto the stage. At the end of the night, he called me out and ripped into me.

But you no me, I can't complain.

Utah seems to do very well as far as bringing in big time comedians, especially compared to the population. I saw Bill Burr a few months ago, and there are people I"ve at least heard of doing stand up at Wiseguys every week.
