Game Thread September 1, 2020: Jazz at Nuggets - Game 7

Added to Calendar: 09-01-20

this is so weird. the goal should be to try to win a challenge every game. at the beginning of the game, the threshold is higher for what you challenge, a glaring mistake by the refs. as the game goes on, the threshold drops. at the end of the game, just challenge anything. why the hell not? Snyder has dozens of assistant coaches. just assign one of them to find him a call to challenge. why is this so dammed hard?
Great post. Always use them. Every time. So stupid not to

Not impressed with Quin. Mike is having a ****** game and struggling with the length of Denver then he puts it in his hand a ton down the stretch.

Dont think he used one challenge the whole series... had a chance to on the charge... didn’t do it.

He finally recognizes TB ain’t it and throws Morgan in there... but now it’s game 7. Not setting homeboy up for success.

Mixes up his coverages on the pick and pop... then holy **** we hold Jamal under 50.

I will say everyone generally looked scared to shoot except DM and Jordan. Played terrible. So damn disappointed.

Cant wait for DL to talk about useless platitudes and run it back next year. Gotta get more data.
Good post

- Conley scores 20 but matchup scores 30. Reason we lose.
- But no one scored 30 on Conley during the series, and he outscored his matchups except the last game
- But they were scrubs!
- So they didn't outscore him? }
- Don't change the subject! Let's talk about China. I'm right. More points than your matchup > you play better > you win
- Again, this goes against your argument.
- We must count the last game. Or every single game. You don't understand me. I went to UCLA. End of story.
...and i thought Harvard teaches English.

Has anyone ever taught your what a metaphor or hyperbole is?

me saying "Conley score 20 while opponents score 30" = Conley needs to have EXACTLY 20 point against Murray/Morris/Craig and need to have EXACTLY 30 point when Conley is guarding them?

So me calling you a clown=you working in a circus?

This is how you take someone else's argument?

Speaking of English. Damn, you need to check your writing. If you didn't notice, I was writing like that on purpose to show how simple/binary your arguments are.

In simple terms, you are saying that Conley surrenders more than what he provides. Then you give as an example that even when he is scoring, his opponents are scoring 30+ on him. But reality is, that this series he hasn't been involved in pick n rolls, and his matchups are mediocre players who barely score. So your statement about him surrendering 30+ (or whatever the points, on pick n rolls or not) is just false. If you want to judge his defense (during the series or the season), then use other metrics. We may find some common ground. Regarding the last game, he shoot poorly, but he provided other things, including good defense. You don't aknowledge that, and go full circle about the importance of outscoring your matchup. You can't have it both ways.

Everyone is upset and I get that , but to not have your second leading scorer , to go 7 games against Nuggs , is a great effort ...

I thought in this bubble , Donovan took a huge leap forward ... just ran out of gas ...

We definitely need an athletic 3/4 that can 3+D And has more size than Oneal ... Denver got what we needed in Grant , he was huge for them .

Jazz have to make changes next year. I hope they just don't rely on Bojan coming back.

We wasted one of the greatest playoffs performances of all time.

If Mitchell is okay with Gobert and wants him here, keep him. If he doesn't trade Gobert.

Conley will opt in. We can use his salary plus picks to try and get a better fit player. He played well this series but Mitchell is our PG and we need more length and athletic players.

Royce and Ingles need to go to the bench. Royce's hustle is nice, but his defense isn't that good and he won't shoot open shots and players avoid passing to him when he is wide open and we need a basket. Ingles is old and I think just not that interested in basketball anymore. I wouldn't be shocked if he retired although I think he won't leave this kind of money.

Niang is fine he just needs a smaller role if we keep him. We have some decent role players to develop as well from our rookies this year.

Bojan should be back and help. He should start at the 3 spot. We need an athletic 2 and 4 that can shoot decent.

If we keep Gobert great at the 5 get a decent reliable backup for cheap. If not we should get a center that can hustle, rebound, and shoot a little bit. We should get a solid player back for Gobert.

We should try to re-sign Clarkson but I would be looking to trade him as well. He just is too inconsistent and doesn't really do anything besides score. I'm not opposed to keeping him for a decent price as a bench scorer.

Niang is not fine. my lord. he should not be a rotation player in the playoffs. dude is inconsistent, and when hes on only does one thing. that wont get you by elite teams.

i'm pissed off but you are right. we did do some good things. we blew them out two games. Don looked good.
everyone was spotty though, and incosistent. biggest was conley and his weak performance in a game 7

Arena effect, losing the advantage of home court vibe hits the teams that benefit from it the most. Same thing must have happened with the Jazz to grab back some momentum.

How many fouls did Quinn challenge this series? 2? 3? I might have missed it if it was more. Why the hell doesn't he used that every single damn game? Use it for fun if you are ahead by 30. Use it on the last foul of the game, or the first. He could have used it about a half dozen times tonight. I don't get it. Does he get a bigger bonus if he turns them in at the end of the year?
