Shooting at Congressional Baseball Practice

In Utah, if you look for it, you can see who's packing a lot of the time.
I was in Texas last week for work and my boss pulled out his glock in his car's center console to show me. He said that 70% of Texans have loaded guns in their cars.

Not true. Perhaps 70% of his friends or 70% of people he talks to about it.

I have limited experience in Texas so I don't doubt you. That said, I stayed at the hotel/convention center where they had the Mohammed drawing contest a few years back. Everyone who talked about it made it seem like you don't mess with Texans cause they all have guns on them.

Proportionally there are a lot more but they aren't very significant figures, in my estimation. I'm just throwing this out as an example and not necessarily what I think the numbers are, but presume nationally 2.5% of people keep a loaded gun in their car (probably way lower than that) but in Texas 10% of people keep a loaded gun in their car (much higher than what my estimation would be). From one angle it's four times the national average. From another angle they're both fairly low numbers.

How confident can we be in those reported numbers? Anyone worth their **** knows, and wants to keep it concealed.

I tend to agree with Harambe. I think that those carrying or with one in their car are under reported intentionally. Many people lie about it as they want to remain completely off radar.

Sickening that this is the norm now.

You are so far off your rocker that you take a gun and attack people.

Sick of this. We are lucky no one was killed.

Was pretty clear I wasn't referencing actual numbers.

You know why hunters always wave to each other? Because everyone has a gun.

Going back to the estimates of people carrying loaded guns in cars, there are 937,419 active CHL holders in Texas. Now, I know we passed open carry recently but I don't pay a lot of attention to gun laws and what that means (don't know if having a loaded gun in your car falls under open carry -- and really, forgive my ignorance but perhaps concealed carry only applies to your person and isn't necessary for a vehicle -- I have no idea so somebody will have to speak to that), but there are 27.5 million people in Texas. That would mean that if everyone with a concealed carry license in Texas was packing a loaded firearm in their car, it would be 3.4% of the population.

Then you have to consider those that carry a weapon in their car but do not have a CC.

So while I agree with you on the whole 70% thing I also think these numbers are a little low.
