They play in the same market as TCU but have an older and smaller stadium, and a worse football program. Why am I not seeing anything about tv markets being a no brainer obstacle for SMU? Nobody is saying anything about recruiting competition if they are elevated, either. And SMU actually would be elevated, unlike TCU who is already in a BCS conference.
Like I said, the tv markets thing was nowhere near as important as you made it out to be. It's important, but not all that important. And even if it were, Dallas is a huge market anyway so it's not exactly a bad thing to add that market.

I shouldn't have to point out the following, but I will anyway:
-You do realize the article in your link is titled: "SMU expresses interest in joining the Big 12" and not "The Big 12 expresses interest in adding SMU."?
-In the link that you provided, there is not one Big 12 official quoted in any way, shape, or form in regards to the Big 12 actually having mutual interest in SMU.
-Just like the earlier link you posted in regards to TCU/Big 12, you've given us a one sided article that's nothing more than one school hoping for consideration and a journalist speculating the rest of the way.
-Im sure SMU would like very much to join the Big 12. I also suppose Utah State would like to be in the Pac 12 if you asked them. Should we write an article about that?
Im amazed by all the times you make half-assed attempts to continue an argument on this forum only to make yourself and your position look worse. Maybe someday the Big 12 will be forced to look at SMU or TCU as viable options. Maybe someday Big 12 schools will soften their stance on why they never wanted these schools in the first place, but today is not that day. However, I'm sure if it happens years down the road you'll be logging into Jazzfanz ASAP just so you can tell me I was wrong. Let me congratulate you in advance but also offer my condolences for the fact that you are an insufferable tool.

You talk a lot of crap about the links I posted, so the obvious response is, where are your links? Have you posted even ONE line that even hints that the Big 12 would not be interested in either SMU or TCU? Have you posted ONE link that even hints the Big 12 is not interested in adding the Dallas market? Clearly, SMU would not be going public with this if they felt there was no chance of getting invited.
You remind me of a little kid. You have no substance whatsoever to your argument. Yet you're ad hominem attacks somehow make you think your argument is better than mine. It doesn't matter that SMU is now public with their request to join the Big 12. It doesn't matter that SMU says they have already spoken with several Big 12 officials about it. You called me an insufferable tool, so I must be wrong.
I maintain that SMU went public and said they had already spoke to several Big 12 officials (in the link I posted). They would not have gone public if the Big 12 told them "no way." And the Big 12 has not gone public and said SMU is out of the question. And SMU is not even the best program in the Dallas market (TCU is). Therefore passing on the Dallas market must not be the no brainer that you claim it is.

You've obviously got this all figured out. I'm sure SMU or TCU (hell, why not both?) will be admitted into the Big 12 before we know it. I guess anytime a media member writes an extremely speculative article that means there's "smoke" to the story. Like I said earlier, congrats. I still believe my stance on this 100%. I think it's very factual and logical for anybody who wants to look at it honestly, and the fact that SMU and TCU have never gotten a sniff of the Big 12 thus far (because of the reasons I've posted over and over again) will serve as my evidence (no links necessary).

First off, I am not predicting this will happen. As I have said several times, I think TCU would be the first choice of the Big 12, but I think TCU would also turn down the invitation.
Second, are you being serious here? Did you read the link I posted? How can you sit there and say that article is only a reporter's speculation and they didn't even get a sniff from the Big 12? Try reading it again. SMU is quoted as saying they have already spoke to several Big 12 officials.
Your know it all, condescending attitude aside, anyone looking at this with a shred of objectivity can see that there is no way SMU goes public with the fact that they are A: interested, and B: spoke with several Big 12 officials about it, if they really didn't get a sniff of interest from the Big 12. And if you are saying I'm up in the night about this, to the point where you're using multiple ad hominem attacks, then yes, a link that supports your position would be appropriate. I've posted 2 now that support mine- one regarding TCU, another regarding SMU (who plays in the same media market as TCU).

Yeah I completely agree. They would be foolish to leave the Big East for the Big 12. Maybe if Texas didn't control the Big 12 and get a bigger share and have their own network and all that. But as long as Texas owns the Big 12, and the Big 12 is on the verge of collapsing over it, TCU would likely prefer the Big East. Especially since TCU will be favored to win the conference every year so they are basically going to a BCS game almost every year and will be the face of the conference.
