Six games in and...

The Jazz lead the league in blocks.

Are undefeated at home.

Have beaten the teams they are supposed to.

Younger guys seem to get more or consistent time.

Defense seems to be coming together, but the offense is turrible.

Burks shows that he is more than a MoAlmond type of chucker. Dude can pass and more importantly draw fouls.

Corbin still hasn't figured out his rotation.

Jefferson is a black hole, but his shots are falling. His first game was a fluke. He has active hands on defense.

Favors needs an offensive game.

Kanter has a knack for boards and toughness.

Raja Bell is the new John Tucker.

Hayward should play point forward.

Howard is much better and active than I thought.

Watson is solid. If only he were younger.

That is a fairly good summary of where the Jazz are at.

Not worth much but Rep'd anyways.

I think the most interesting stat is how the Jazz are leading the league in block shots. How long will this last? Isn't this what fans have foamed at the mouth for?

Agreed. Al averaged around 2 blocks last year if I'm not mistaken and Millsap has always been a decent shot blocker for his size. But as I watched last night and saw the sequence where Favors blocked a couple shots in a row (Bucks player ended up laying it in on his 3rd attempt) I thought to myself - 'the Jazz haven't really had someone like that in a long, long time'.

I'm really starting to fall in love with our front court, no homo. I also am becoming a bigger Ty booster with each game as he's rotated the front court guys masterfully in my opinion. He's done a great job the last few games with the wings too (with the glaring exception of Bell). I have a great feeling Bell will soon be out of the rotation completely.

The only real disappointment of the season thus far for me is how empty ESA has looked during the home games on TV. Hopefully locals start filling it up to show the young cats some love!

Go Jazz!

fans have foamed at the mouth for better interior defense. They think blocked shots are the end-all-be-all proof that the rim is being defended. They are over-rating that category. Just look at last night's game: Jazz block a ton of shots, but Gooden does whatever the hell he wants to. Gooden. Jefferson's defense remains as big a problem as ever.

If someone were to tell me we'd be .500 after six games, I would have taken it. Offense needs to get much much better or we'll slide.

No take on CJ?

Ok...

Guess I'll do it.

CJ's still the same player he was last year... The year before that... And the year before that...

Streaky, not mentally tough, unable to do much other than chuck, and still retarded. If anything, his recent end of quarter/half/game fouls have proven that he's actually become dumber.

I want to see less of CJ and Raja and more Howard, Hayward, and Burks.

yet if he ever leaves the jazz he will be a monster on a championship team ala Deshawn stevenson

or just a monster ala chris humpries

Rep'd and thanks for finding the possitives. We all get to caught up in negative issues.

I have been a little discouraged by C.J's inconsistency, but am still a firm believer he can help this team. Plus he'll need to be the 4th guy in the rotation of Hwayward, Howard and Burks. They won't last if Ty just rotates those three.

Hate to bring the negatives, but we almost certainly dont beat the Hornets if Gordon was healthy. Also can not exactly be to positive after the Milwaukee game. Milwaukee was absolutely horribe and did not look like they wanted to be there. Now good thing is Burks got a lot of pt. Would not mind if Howard is out a few more games in order to get him a lot of minutes. But yeah 3-3 is still a bit of a surprise.

While I agree with you for the most part, it's worth mentioning that most teams are struggling with inconsistency and injury. This is lockout basketball; take the wins; don't look back.

....personally, I have foamed at the mouth for a return of the Stockton to Malone "pick and roll".....and that ain't EVER coming back!!!

Good thoughts Arch.

I think Ty is developing nicely. I said give him ten games before passing judgement and he is doing with his first ten games what I thought he should. He is evaluating and adjusting. And imo doing a fine job of it so far.

The minutes split between Bell and Burks last night was about spot on the way it should be.

That lineup in the 4th quarter needs to play more together (I believe it was Watson, Burks, Hayward, Sap, AJ, but you could sub in Kanter or Favors for AJ).

I hope they find a way to package CJ/Bell/both (and maybe Harris) with something else and get us a decent starting PG at mid-season. Even as Harris seems to be improving, I still think someone who knows how to run an offense, not just play with energy and pass a little bit, would help this team tremendously.

All in all I am optimistic about our season at this point. I am thinking my prediction of just under .500 will be a little low and we might be ahead of the .500 mark by the end.

Pass the Kool-Aid!

More seriously, the Jazz have shown that they can beat the bad teams, but not the good teams. Shaping up to be a 0.500 year, which is basically what I predicted before the season started (I'm on record with a 34-32 prediction). We'll see flashes of brilliance, I believe, along with flashes of crap.

Or would that be splashes of crap? Hmm.

Anyway, you are right of course. This will be a season of dizzying highs and ****ty lows. But I think it's going to be more fun than maybe many of us thought it would be.

As long as the young guys get minutes like they have been.

Maybe Sloan left just in time. There is no way Kanter and Burks would have gotten this much burn under his watch. I think expecting .500 ball is being to optimistic. We almost lost to an extremely cold-shooting, sub-par bucks team with out their best player. Not trying to be a debbie downer here but with the inevitable injuries, road trips, and just playing better teams, .333 ball is more likely.
