What's new

Six games in and...

Maybe Sloan left just in time. There is no way Kanter and Burks would have gotten this much burn under his watch. I think expecting .500 ball is being to optimistic. We almost lost to an extremely cold-shooting, sub-par bucks team with out their best player. Not trying to be a debbie downer here but with the inevitable injuries, road trips, and just playing better teams, .333 ball is more likely.
I'd be happy with .333.
I'm happy for the young guys to get wins, but I'm also happy for the losses. I see them thru the lens of the 2012 draft.

I have always viewed this year as a year to prepare for the run we will have starting next year. Get the core we have now going. Build their chemistry and confidence. Land 1-2 lottery picks in the draft, exchange some of our current vets for vets that better fit with the talents of our young core and shoot for the stars.

It was sold out and it also didnt suck. It was a good atmosphere especially for a team coming off those two horrible losses.

This. I've been to two home games so far and the crowd has been great. Not sold out packed, but loud and awesome.

Or would that be splashes of crap? Hmm.

Anyway, you are right of course. This will be a season of dizzying highs and ****ty lows. But I think it's going to be more fun than maybe many of us thought it would be.

Just wait. Once January is over we're in for some rough road games and lots of losing.

Well, yeah, but it will still be fun to watch. I think January is just the kind of month we needed to help get things moving. With no training camp, no pre-season, no extra practice sessions, no game-film time, no actual coaching opportunities, Ty was at a severe disadvantage, as was our team as a whole, compared to teams like the Spurs that have been together forever. We needed a month like January (lots of home games, decent schedule, etc.), and I think it will help us a lot in the long run, and maybe we will have a better road stretch than we anticipate, as in maybe we will win a couple or a few on the road and not just lose them all.

Hate to bring the negatives, but we almost certainly dont beat the Hornets if Gordon was healthy.

You simply don't know this to be true. There's no way to know it's true. For all you know, Gordon would have had an off night, or other people who contributed to this game would have contributed much less. Jefferson might have gone off. Maybe Hayward buries multiple 3's. If Gordon had been there, it would have been an entirely different game

NO is not invincible with Gordon, and we live in a dynamic world, not a static one.

Any team has the chance of beating any other team on any given night.

More seriously, the Jazz have shown that they can beat the bad teams, but not the good teams. Shaping up to be a 0.500 year, which is basically what I predicted before the season started (I'm on record with a 34-32 prediction). We'll see flashes of brilliance, I believe, along with flashes of crap.

Jazz have shown that they can beat really bad teams - who also happen to be sans their best player on the back end of a back2back. I know a wins a win, but I still think the Jazz are top 5 worst in the league. And this is coming from a big optimist.

Agreed. Al averaged around 2 blocks last year if I'm not mistaken and Millsap has always been a decent shot blocker for his size. But as I watched last night and saw the sequence where Favors blocked a couple shots in a row (Bucks player ended up laying it in on his 3rd attempt) I thought to myself - 'the Jazz haven't really had someone like that in a long, long time'.

I'm really starting to fall in love with our front court, no homo. I also am becoming a bigger Ty booster with each game as he's rotated the front court guys masterfully in my opinion. He's done a great job the last few games with the wings too (with the glaring exception of Bell). I have a great feeling Bell will soon be out of the rotation completely.

The only real disappointment of the season thus far for me is how empty ESA has looked during the home games on TV. Hopefully locals start filling it up to show the young cats some love!

Go Jazz!

now I know it's 2012 and the end times are near.

Are undefeated at home.

Lucky that Gordon and Bogut were out but nice to get wins

Younger guys seem to get more or consistent time.

Can't tell since they have simply been bad against good teams and Ok against bad teams

Burks shows that he is more than a MoAlmond type of chucker. Dude can pass and more importantly draw fouls.

Good at slashing as advertised, stil doing a lot of dumb rookie stuff

Jefferson is a black hole, but his shots are falling. His first game was a fluke. He has active hands on defense.

Hate black hole players but not at all what he is doing so far. Al has been great

Raja Bell is the new John Tucker.

Raja is doing the role he has been given and doing fine. He helps create a defensive intensity. As long as his minutes stay down being a starter is a good thing

Hayward should play point forward.

I would be happy with him simply becoming consistent at any one thing.

Howard is much better and active than I thought.

Curious about the Howard love on the board. Shot selection has been horrific at times. He has had good stretches and terrible stretches. Hope he gets it together in a consistent way. Not sold yet

Watson is solid. If only he were younger.

I love Earl's game

They may be that bad now but they wont stay that way for long. I am not predicting a Finals run or anything but I think we will see alot of improvement by Favors, hayward, Kanter and Burks this year. T hey will start to slowly take over the team.

....personally, I have foamed at the mouth for a return of the Stockton to Malone "pick and roll".....and that ain't EVER coming back!!!

One of the few times I want to rep you and I can't.

How hard is it to PnR these days? For a team that established itself through the PnR, we sure suck at it.

We've had three blowout losses, compared to two narrow wins and one decent win over a very hobbled Bucks team. We are not playing .500 baskeball yet, despite our record.

That siad, I'm encouraged for our future. Players seem to be developing well.

Maybe Sloan left just in time. There is no way Kanter and Burks would have gotten this much burn under his watch.

Selective memory. Some rookies got considerable playing time on his watch. With this team, Sloan would not have kept Burks or Kanter off the floor.

That might be about right. Maybe 6th or 7th worst.

30. Washington
29. New Jersey
28. Charlotte
27. Detroit
26. Cleveland
25. Sacramento
24. Utah
23. Golden State!

my take

As of today, our Sagarin ranking is 18th on pure points and 16th on combined record/points. It's better than I thought it would be.
