Stars Season Opener Game Thread: 8PM Mountain Time

Just tell her you're taking notes for a JFC discussion, she'll probably love that.

"Honey, I'm sacrificing my sleep tonight so that I can watch the guys who are not good enough to play for the Jazz play some guys who the Jazz might be able to draft if they are really bad this year. It's important so that I can discuss what happens with strangers on the internet. Also, there's no way I can get to the dishes tonight, I'm way too busy. "

Wives just don't get it.

The other day I was watching the Stars game and my GF was like "Oh you want to watch the game?" (she will "watch" Jazz games with me sometimes which is more just she will pay attention for a few minutes at a time while she does something else) and I told her it's too embarrassing. I watched it alone in the bedroom on the computer.

Hey it could be worse, you could be watching middle school games with PGAB.

I'm not certain at this point anyone would even acknowledge it with the exception of you, fish, myself and a few others. Seems most want him to fail to support the narrative.
I think most want him to succeed. Even his loudest detractor would like him to be good. I think what could happen is he has a good game and people "meh" it or talk about how it was just shots going in and dunks... etc. etc. "If Taylor is good he should dominate!!!!" type of commentary would come from the haters is my guess.

Tay Henny Hive just needs to stay strong. No reason to panic at all.

I wanted him to be good because I really wanted to watch winning basketball this season and he would have been a part of that if he was as NBA-ready as some people said.

In the absence of immediate contributions on the court (which is always a possibility when dealing with rooks), I would have liked to see some undeniable high-end talent at least. To me he looks extremely meh. A future role player with a low ceiling.

Hendricks himself may not be doomed yet, but the fact that he's not even an NBA player at this point has probably stretched the rebuilding timeline by several years.

Let's not start rewriting history: he was supposed to be a guy who can contribute right away on a high level. He was NOT drafted as a project.

No one thought he would be an instant contributor. He's 19 and played for a poor basketball school. We are damn lucky that one of our 3 nineteen year olds is "NBA Ready."

People were high on him because he was one of the few players that we didn't have to say "If he develops a shot. . ." That is far from being "NBA ready. . ."
