I'd rather see Sloan start the Miles. Probably do better on defense. Be interesting to see if Flash Gordon can play defense.
That's another reason why Bell should come off the bench--to help with Hayward's inexperience and likely poor defense (hopefully initally only).

Here's a novel idea: start Hayward at SF. Seriously, a lot of teams have a "non-starter" in the game for short minutes. There's a lot less pressure on a rookie if he gets to play alongside the 4 other starters. Start Gordon and play him 5 mins or so in the 1st and 3rd. No pressure, as he'll be the 5th option. Then have AK come in. That also lets AK head up the 2nd unit at whatever point Deron exits. Another advantage to starting Gordon is you'd have another shooter and clear out the middle for AJ. Kirilenko can't do that; his main move is to drive the lane. Much better to have him in there with Memo or Millsap vs. running up the back of Jefferson.

I'd stil go with Bell as the starter at the 2. Play Raja about 8 mins in the 1st/3rd, then CJ comes in at SG. Ak would play the rest of the 1st/3rd and about 4 mins into the 2nd/4th, at which point you slide CJ over to SF and bring Raja back in at SG.

Total minutes;
SF: Hayward (10); AK (30); CJ (8)
SG: Bell (28); CJ (20)

I think that it's much more effective for Hayward to play alongside Bell in the 2nd unit. Deron will be playing 35 to 40 minutes anyway, foul/injury allowing, so Elder Hayward will get the benefit of DW's influence for part of his time on the court anyway.

That's CJ Miles' job in the starting lineup.

I want AK out there for defense starting the game, and I want him to play early in case there is a need to experience rotating him to the 4--or to the 2.

And I want AK involved earlier. Bell left; he's the new kid again. Make him the spark off the bench. Kirilenko had his turn at that. AK and PM play really well together. Start the game that way.

I'd do this: DW, AK, Okur, Milsap, Jefferson and ride them all 35 minutes. That would be a tough team that has the potential to win it all because Jefferson is better for this team than Boozer. Remember, if AK wasn't injured, they had a chance against LA. But Miles was no AK in that series and nobody could replace Okur.

But that's not what Sloan will do. He will mess with them and juggle and play the suck ups.

Don't forget Okur and Andre will have weeks off in the season because of sprained pinkies or ...... just because they want to!

gregbroncs (Bonkers). I was hoping that was you. I've missed you! But be careful about the swearing or they will kick you off this post as well. Let me introduce everyone to Bonkers. He's a PR front for CJ Miles.

Funny thing is (Brainslut) I've got over 300 posts and less than 20 of them even mention Miles. But you have 5 and i'm sure they all are bashing Miles. I did notice just about the 1st thread discussing Miles you jump in to spew that **** out of your finger tips though.

And I never so much as got a warning on the other board or this one. So go ahead with your self delusional BS.

I see you still won't even try and explain yourself though. Anybody who says anything good about Miles must be...Oh let me use your dumbass words...a PR man for him.

Edit: Hahahahaha. I just looked it up and ALL 5 OF YOUR POSTS ARE IN THIS THREAD. Hater. So do you know anything about the team or just about your love of Miles.

Your full of ****. Okur was PLAYING with a strained Achilles. There is no proof that he does not play hurt, in fact there is mass amounts of proof to the contrary.

Probably Bell. I don't know. If AK is starting, he should be playing with an opportunistic scorer and pure shooter. The starting lineups D looks pretty damn nice and it makes AK the clear 3rd option (assuming Millsap and Jefferson are the bigs) and secondary playmaker, the only drawback is that there's a massive drop in defense for the bench unit. When Okur is back, maybe I change my mind, depending on whether he starts or not.

P.S. with the roster as it is, Miles should play somewhere between 0% and 5% of his minutes as a SF (at least with Okur in the rotation).

We all know that it doesn't matter who starts in Sloan's system, it's who finishes games. The players know this, and Sloan uses the starting spots to build confidence. When was the last time Ronnie Brewer finished a game for Sloan? I suspect the game finishers will be the defensive veterans Bell and AK, while CJ starts. I wouldn't be shocked if Gordon B. starts some in the preseason. If AK plays a lot of minutes at PF behind Millsap, expect some good minutes from CJ and Hayward.

The idea that Bell is best to save for the end of the game is why you don't start him.

If you want to build confidence, I don't know if starting Hayward the rookie is the best to do it. Sloan used to start CJ partly because he didn't want to use him as much at the end of the game. And Sloan didn't start Miles more than 13 games per season until his 4th year in the league. It's only recently that Miles has started to be a clutch shooter with passable defense, not just a poor-defending chucker.

I want AK to start so that he's involved--and because he does well alongside Millsap. If he gets 25-30+ MPG anyway, then give him 6 to 8 in Q1 (subbing in Bell), 6 to 8 toward the end of Q2, 6 to 8 in Q3 (ditto), and a bunch in Q4 if he's doing well.
