I was in this situation for a couple of years. Let me explain: We had DirecTV for the Jazz games. We had a small SDTV. We wanted a bigger TV, which by default, pretty much meant getting an HDTV. This must have been 3 or 4 years ago. We didn't want to pay extra for HD service which at the time we would have had to do. Last year we switched to Dish Network and now get their free HD. But now, I don't know if there really are extra costs for having HD. So your gripe could be valid. I know some people don't like auto-paying bills, which is a requirement with Dish Network for free HD.

The only thing I really watch is sports. Can't do non HD sports. I've just had a couple awkward circumstances where someone invites me to there house to watch a game on their new HDTV, only to find out they don't have HD. I take my sports watching super cereal, if you couldn't tell.

Well once you've done HD you can't go back. I hadn't seen any sports in HD when we got our HDTV, so it worked out all right for those few years.
 
How about the large *** lady that unloads her cart that has about 40 items in the 10 items or less line, and the cashier continues the check out!
 
People with nauseatingly-bad breath, especially when they come up-close and you find out about this aforementioned stench after getting a mouthful of their breath from their stupid speaking-manner.
