Sorta like Rush or Van Halen...still sounds/looks like **** (Boogie Nights is a fine film).

How dare you diminish "The Holy Triumvirate" with your words.
That's like a mortal sin. Especially since you live in Canada (lived?... I don't keep track)

Shyamalan wins. The man hasn't made a bad movie. In fact, all of his movies have gotten progressively better without exception. I don't think either of these guys can claim that.

Seriously though, Shamamalamaman is pretty lame. The Village and the Happening were both weak as hell.

Although, I should go on to say that there really isn't any director out there that has a perfectly clean record of really good movies top to bottom. Every director is going to get hit and miss results because the movie industry is so fickle. I also believe being a cinema snob or worrying so much about technicalities ruins movies when they are supposed to be about having fun and being entertained for a couple hours.

In summary, a good portion of movies suck. There are a lot of good ones though.

How would you feel about it if someone wrote: "I also believe being a basketball snob or worrying so much about coaching and general manager decisions ruins basketball games when they are supposed to be about having fun and being entertained for a couple hours."

At the end of the day, we all have our "things" that we care about their quality and we take seriously even if they're just silly entertainments for someone else. Whether it's athletics, physical activities, or various forms of media you're allowed to discuss some things seriously if it's what you like to do. In essence, all you wrote is "I think that's a dumb hobby."

Just fine. People are entitled to their own opinions.

The Village is an awesome flick. IMO, his best to date. Everything after that is DREADFUL, though. I think The Village was killed due to the marketing. Marketing a god damn DRAMA/ROMANCE as a HORROR??!?!??! The wrong audience went to that movie.

I've tried to enjoy the last 2+ hours of Magnolia, but have yet to find any reason to watch it at all. Punch Drunk Love? meh.

Understandable. I find it pretty pretentious myself and behind BN and TWBB as far as his work goes.

PDL has the most romantic scene ever filmed that makes crucial use of the word 'sledgehammer.' I believe we can say that point, at least, is beyond debate.

I happened to like that movie, a lot. I thought Adam Sandler was great. I love when his sisters are making fun of him and he snaps and shatters the sliding glass door.
