Sorta like Rush or Van Halen...still sounds/looks like **** (Boogie Nights is a fine film).
Are you saying PTA's work generally sounds/looks like ****, at least in your opinion?

Shyamalan wins. The man hasn't made a bad movie. In fact, all of his movies have gotten progressively better without exception. I don't think either of these guys can claim that.
I also believe being a cinema snob or worrying so much about technicalities ruins movies when they are supposed to be about having fun and being entertained for a couple hours.
Seriously though, Shamamalamaman is pretty lame. The Village and the Happening were both weak as hell
How would you feel about it if someone wrote: "I also believe being a basketball snob or worrying so much about coaching and general manager decisions ruins basketball games when they are supposed to be about having fun and being entertained for a couple hours."

Although, I should go on to say that there really isn't any director out there that has a perfectly clean record of really good movies top to bottom. Every director is going to get hit and miss results because the movie industry is so fickle. I also believe being a cinema snob or worrying so much about technicalities ruins movies when they are supposed to be about having fun and being entertained for a couple hours.
In summary, a good portion of movies suck. There are a lot of good ones though.
I've tried to enjoy the last 2+ hours of Magnolia, but have yet to find any reason to watch it at all. Punch Drunk Love? meh.Are you saying PTA's work generally sounds/looks like ****, at least in your opinion?

PDL has the most romantic scene ever filmed that makes crucial use of the word 'sledgehammer.' I believe we can say that point, at least, is beyond debate.
