You should rent a house in Utah County, Utah for a summer. Attend some LDS church services. Go out shooting with some locals (they would absolutely jump at the chance to take a Canadian out shooting). Then get back to me. You think it's an easy choice but I think a good 20% of Utah gun owners would hide their guns (there's no way to know what guns they have, I hope you know that) and they might turn in a couple guns they don't use or that flat out don't work.
It's not a real solution. Many would literally die before giving up their guns. You can think they'd cave or that it's bravado, for some maybe it is, but not for all of them, not even close. They see gun ownership as the last line of defense against the ultimate slavery of all mankind. They think they are the last standouts preventing a world government from swooping in and enslaving all people everywhere in the world. So long as the U.S. people can defend themselves with guns the plans of this secret world government are being thwarted.
