You're missing what I'm saying. Trust me, I have no problem ******** on Mitchell.

Conley played well tonight. He didn't play like the 9th highest paid player in the league. Dude is underwhelming.

I don't think you're wrong, but I also don't think the Jazz necessarily brought him over expecting him to be a 32 million dollar a year guy. That's not what we need from him, that's what we need from Don.

If it's a discussion about whether Mike is living up to his contract, then that's a different subject. But you explicitly stated that Mike is the reason why Donovan is trying too hard.

He's trying too hard at times because he's the number one dude, and he was awful today, it happens. He has been awesome this season overall though.

Yeah you put it better than I. If you're expecting top ten play from Conley because he's a top ten paid guy, you're going to be disappointed. That's just not what he is.

Yeah, that might be the case about Jazz not necessarily expecting him to play up to $30+ million dollars, at least internally. But I think it's probably fair to do so regardless for people outside of the franchise. Even us fans. That's a lot of money.

Yes and no.

Mitchell has cost the Jazz the last two games imo. He's confidently played hero ball.

If Mike were playing at the 32 million a year, would Mitchell play this way? Lord knows Mike isn't. He's playing at the 10 million a year (if he's lucky.)

I dunno, I kind of look at it the other way. We're not paying him that money so if anyone should be expecting it, it's the person cutting his checks. But again, we knew he wasn't a top ten player in the league when we signed him, obviously.

Of course he's not playing like the top 30 guy we thought he was either so...

I suppose it all comes down to expectations. I think if you want him to play up to his contract then that's a fair assessment. On the other hand, if you don't necessarily think he should, then that's a fair assessment too. That's all subjective, depending on the person.

There will always be an objectivity aspect to it though. And I feel that that particular objectivity will lean towards expecting a certain level of 'productivity compared to pay' result. Especially as you said, to the people cutting his cheque.

In a vacuum i think it's fine for fans or whatever to judge players by their contracts. But in this case, where we've known for years that Conley is overpaid it just seems pointless to expect that kind of play from him now.

Can I expect an offensive rating in the top 70% of the league? Or higher than Mudiay, or Rubio?

Because if that is a fair expectation, I will then be disappointed.
