The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

Where you getting that at?
Driving on the road yesterday taking my daughter to her ice skating lessons i saw the gas at 7-11 was 2.96 and then at chevron it was 2.97. Made a comment to my wife about it cause I dont usually even notice gas prices. This is in kearns utah.

Under $3 per gallon?!? Your gas prices start with a '2'? Wow. I'm jealous. In Southern California I'm lucky to find one that starts with a '4', and the ones that do usually require cash payment and purchase of a car wash to get the price. Newly all gas where I live is still over $5 per gallon.
Eh dont be too jealous. Gas prices aint everything. im guessing your household income is way more than mine. (im between 80,000-85000 for my household income) Also, i drive a gas guzzler (I get about 16-19 per gallon)
Just nice to see the prices coming down despite the fact that demand is still really high.

Would be cool to have a pandemic hit and stop people from driving/flying/going on cruises and stuff to bring them prices down even more though I guess.

Some interesting things going on in the gop recently to follow the lauren bobert debacle from a bit back.

good to see.

Not so good to see.

also not so good.

All right, all right – everybody settle down. We’ve got reports that Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy elbowed one of his colleagues in the kidney while walking the halls of Congress this week.

We also watched video of Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma trying to get a witness in a Senate hearing to stand up and fight him.

As the presiding officer of the Office of Congressional Fisticuffs, it’s clear I need to remind lawmakers on the Republican side of the aisle that there are rules around here, and those rules are meant to be followed.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) declared during his weekly news conference Tuesday that the House “is a pressure cooker” after lawmakers have spent roughly a dozen grueling weeks together in the halls of Congress.

That was evident minutes beforehand when Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) came up behind Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and began yelling in his ear, accusing him of elbowing him in the back as they passed each other in a crowded hallway.

The Senate had fireworks of its own Tuesday as Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) brought a hearing about corporate greed to a standstill as he confronted one witness, stood up and challenged him to a fistfight.

What a **** show.

Tell me honestly that if a US Senator had actually traded blows with a Teamster Union Boss that you wouldn't have watched the hell out of the clip. They could have charged pay-per-view for that fight. My money would have been on former MMA fighter Senator Markwayne Mullin.

Definitely would watch that. I would also be unhappy that it was happening. I would watch though.

They say you never fight a teamster, it always turns out to be two or three more who jump in.

You guys are soooo behind Canada in this. And if it does happen, you should bet against the MMA guy, apparently.

Christian nationalism seems to be a core element in a fascist movement….it’s a disguise, no wonder so many don’t recognize it, wrapped in a flag, holding a cross….

“As the MAGA movement seeks a return to the White House, religious extremism is no longer marginalized. It is now baked into the cake.”

Did anyone have fun political discussions for Thanksgiving? We mostly avoided the topic, but my mother talked about John Kennedy's assassination 60 years ago yesterday.

My sister, brother-in-law, and nephew all agreed they would love to see Biden assassinated.

Example 2,457,395,208 of what truly plagues America: Boredom.

It’s not wealth inequality or demographic change, it’s boredom caused by decades upon decades of peace, prosperity, and having all needs overwhelmingly taken care of. People are now seeking entertainment and meaning through radical and extremist politics and religion. People now joke around about insurrections, coups, and assassinations because life in America is so good. They complain about otherwise meaningless things like the cost of a turkey or school libraries despite buying a turkey once a year and never noticing the price or having never checked out a school library book in 40 years. Stuff like this gives their life meaning. Or at the very least, 5 seconds of entertainment. It’s all about That dopamine hit of complaining about x, making a mountain out of y, or joking around about assassinating z. Our country has become a very unserious and childish country.

Psychopath

Truly appalling that 1 in 3 Americans support this traitor.

"Happy Thanksgiving to ALL, including the Racist & Incompetent Attorney General of New York State, Letitia “Peekaboo” James, who has let Murder & Violent Crime FLOURISH, & Businesses FLEE; the Radical Left Trump Hating Judge, a “Psycho,” Arthur Engoron, who Criminally Defrauded the State of New York, & ME, by purposely Valuing my Assets at a “tiny” Fraction of what they are really worth in order to convict me of Fraud before even a Trial, or seeing any PROOF, & used his Politically Biased & Corrupt Campaign Finance Violator, Chief Clerk Alison Greenfield, to sit by his side on the “Bench” & tell him what to do; & Crooked Joe Biden, who has WEAPONIZED his Department of Injustice against his Political Opponent, & allowed our Country to go to HELL; & all of the other Radical Left Lunatics, Communists, Fascists, Marxists, Democrats, & RINOS, who are seriously looking to DESTROY OUR COUNTRY. Have no fear, however, we will WIN the Presidential Election of 2024, & MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"

Right? I'll never understand religious people, even though I was one for several decades.
I actually find it’s pretty simple; organized religion teaches blind obedience to an authority figure. That should be god but often it’s to domineering personality male, usually in the form of a bishop/pastor/priest. It also provides them with a community that has its own set of facts and lives in their own reality. It’s no surprise to me when you read interviews with Trumpers and find that they’re often victims of abuse and/or involved with extremist religions. The wreckage that leaves them dependent on an authority figure leaves them easy prey for authoritarians like Hitler, Franco, Pinochet, Putin, and Trump. “Big daddy will give me purpose and safety while promising to punish all the same people we hate.”

The same personalities who’d follow Charlie Manson, Warren Jeffs, David Koresh, would follow Trump. It’s a big part of his draw. He the leader of a counter culture movement against mainstream news, ideologies, and norms. He gives a lot of these bored and emotionally damaged people community and meaning.

Organized religion isn’t all bad. I do think finding community and meaning are part of a healthy life and organized religion can be a big part of that. But the conditioning, especially when you move towards more fundamental sects, is there. You have a background in the LDS church, right? Think back about how inconvenient facts (Joseph Smith having sex with minors or married women) were dismissed or spun. How the prophet was and continues to be worshipped as an omniscient man. How blind obedience (nephi building a ship or Abraham’s willingness to murder his own son) was encouraged. This creates fertile ground for authoritarianism. For some people, that ends up being President Nelson. For others, that ends up being Tim Ballard. And for others, it ends up being Donald Trump.

An incredibly insightful article:
