What's new

The Jazz don't have much young talent...

Remember the "core four"? Or "let the cake bake"? The time for youth has come and gone. Unfortunately luck wasn't on our side -the player we developed into an allstar screwed us, two of the core four have turned out to be busts (kanter and burks) and favors is at best a role player. Really not sure what the strategy should be at this point in the tough west... glad i'm not the GM making these tough decisions...

KOC years and that's all you got? KOC has been hands down the biggest mistake in Jazz history and he still exists.
2001 draft, Jazz- Raul Lopez
Could've chosen
Tony Parker
Samuel Dalembert
Gilbert Arenas
Mehmet Okur
Ousmane Cisse.
Who is Ousmane Cisse? another bust just like Raul Lopez, besides the point.
2004 draft
Jazz-Kirk Snyder
Who? =exactly
Could've had
Tony Allen
Jameer Neilson
JR Smith
Josh Smith

KOC, let young point guard Mo. Williams walk without a contract extension, resulting into,,,,, nothing! No contact extension offered.

KOC let Al Jefferson walk for nothing!!!

KOC signed AK47 to his ridiculously expensive contact that cost us years of financial instability.
What did the Jazz do?
PROMOTED HIM!!!!
KOC has overseen all operation since.
How do you fail and get promoted?

This is false. Dante, for his length, moves laterally smoother, quicker and faster than almost anyone I've seen in the NBA.

Donovan changes direction instantly. Dante has a first and second step which gets him by some defenders but once he's up to speed his ability to change direction... again... half the quickness of Donovan.

KOC gave the Jazz a better chance to win it all than Dennis Lindsey has. The AK contract was a mistake, but he still put together one heck of team from 2006-2009. If Derek Fisher doesn't abandon the Jazz, they are right there in the mix for the championship in 2007; if the NBA didn't give the Lakers star treatment in 2008, the Jazz were very close to the Finals; and if they aren't injury plagued in 2009 they would have been close.

I loved the KOC years. He blew it when Sloan retired and DWill left, but he gave us some fun times. I'm happy Lindsey is the man now, but he blew it with Hayward and now I have no idea what his options are.

Tough luck for Dennis OLindsey. He assembled a beautiful roster last season, but he gave up some assets and flexibility to get it. And it all fell apart when Robyn decided she liked her shopping options in Boston more than Salt Lake. I choose to believe OLindsey had a plan B, but it was foiled because Robyn liked the recruiting attention and her husband was a slow typer.

I know there are reasons and backstories to explain OLindseys drafts. But the bottom line is the Jazz must be successful in the draft, I hesitate to say they can't afford to miss but the reality is they can't afford to miss. Dennis has missed, he turned a collection of first and second round picks into Donovan Mitchel, a forth string center and 51 games of George Hill.

The other night When the Jazz were struggling in Phoenix I felt bad for Quin who must have looked at his bench and saw nothing there to help him.

Still, I like Dennis and think he is the Jazz's best hope for putting together something. And like every year since 2008, I look forward to next summer.

Nothing is worse than Burks over Kawhi. Its not even close. I erupted when we made that dumbass decision. We missed on a top 5 talent.

I think we had a shot at magic johnson once upon a time.
He was pretty good too.

Kanter over Kawhi was pretty bad too

Projecting forward, the Jazz have Mitchell, probably Exum, Hood, Gobert and Bradley. They need young forwards. They also need to see if they can hold on to Gobert at the end of his current contract.

Yep. Agree with this.

I dont think Ingles sees out his contract here.

Dante was the better draft prospect, he just was, and it's not close. Exum is a legit 6'6" and had drawn comparisons to Kobe Bryant by some.

Dante was never a better prospect and I have never seen anybody comparing him to Kobe ( that would be stupid as he was never even close to athlete Kobe was or had basketball skill set like Kobe - so what that he is 6'6?)... his best case scenario projected was Penny Hardaway ( which was laughable as well). He was mystery over hyped pick chosen purely on physical characteristics like length and quick first step. He made very smart business decision to not go to college and cash in while his hype was at it's highest, because had he gone to college his flaws would be exposed and his draft position would be dropping to 20-30 where it should have been. That's what you get sometimes when you draft mystery international players who never played against real competition. Sometimes you strike gold, sometimes you miss. Some of fans here were laughing at Orlando when they did not buy Exum hype and went with more proven Aaron Gordon. If somebody would offer to swap Gordon with Exum right now - you all would do it without even thinking for a second.

hey Cappy_Smurf - just answer simple question please - If you would be Jazz GM and Orlando would offer Gordon straight up for Exum today - would you take it or would you hang on to Exum?

Right, because:
1) You were the only person that knew Kawhi would be THAT good.
2) Kawhi going to the situation he ended up in had nothing to do with his development.

Give me a ****ing break.

Probably true. Dante has a ton of issues but could still be a good defender/slasher/inconsistent spot up shooter. Mitchell has almost no issues. He just needs to make a basket and let the game come to him. I like Dante still and think he could still have a very good career but Mitchell's athleticism is elite.

Right, because:

There were more than him that felt the same. I was beyond pissed with that draft with both Kanter and Burks picks. Wanted JV and Leonard instead. Especially Leonard. And there was more fans who were shocked after Burks pick.

LMAO.

Mitchell is a 2 foot jumper and Dante has way less hops? Time to get that eyeglass prescription checked.

No need for prescriptions. Just check draft combine, Exum's no step vertical and max vertical is below average for his size. Mitchell's is elite.
