To repeat my sermon from another topic, there are two reasons homosexuality is a sin:

1. I said so.
2. It's gross.

All the faithful LDS believers have debated this topic within themselves and found those reasons to be strong enough to agree. Seems reasonable yes? Because it IS gross.

Now how can you approach your child being a so-called "homosexual". Well, I have to admit, being a homo is something they can't be cured from. I know, I know, some prophets think otherwise, as do others in this topic. But they're wrong, it really isn't. Electroshock therapy is HILARIOUS, you guys really went crazy there, lol.

So they're a sinner and they can't be cured... now what? Well, I'll tell you. They're going to outer darkness. Forever. I created them to be homos so that they could be sent to outer darkness for being gross. So yes, love them as your child, but don't expect to be reunited with them in the afterlife. Only righteous people like yourselves will have the majestic opportunity to feed me fruit and bathe me.

I would imagine that Mormon parents, while certainly influenced by the teachings of their faith, would each react in their own individual way if presented with the situation viny described in his original post. Hopefully they would continue to show love towards their child, and learn to accept who they are, even though that might not be exactly who the parents had imagined their child would be.


It's tough being a parent, and watching your kids grow up and make decisions that seem wrong to you.


My kids are perfect however.

I think too many parents don't take a stand with their kids these days. Wrong is wrong (parental standards here) and being my kid doesn't give you a get-out-of-jail-free card. Being my kid does give you love and support and all those things no matter what you do. But I'm not going to say you're right when you're wrong.

Seriously though, I think Mormons would react in their own ways. Look at Mormon parents whose sons/daugthers choose other alternative ways of living, drugs, a life of pre-martial sex, etc. Not all react the same way. I think the same would apply to those whose children decide to come out of the closet. Some will probably turn their backs to them, others will be sad, others will be angry, many will still love their son/daughter despite not agreeing with their lifestyle.

This is why its really ****ing hard to think too seriously about religion. Most gays are clearly "born that way", others are molded by circumstances (normally abuse). I mean there hasn't been a homosexual yet who's come out in a Jose Canseco like manner, and just said ohhh we're just messing with ya. A lot of homosexuals are brought up in the church and seriously fight it. I feel bad for them, because they fight the most natural urge a person can have-- to love. What does that trial mean in the long run (i guess there's a holocaust parralel here)?Why would god give them some sort of test that would make them in most scenarios miserable?

I understand that it is not essential to "the plan" and here it makes sense that it would be classified along the same lines as other sexual sins. But I have a problem with the word sin in this context, clearly homosexuality does not follow in the same route as "the plan", but its essentially just "spilling of the seed"... and that may be a sin in the morals of the mormon church, but along those same lines... whenever "the seed" is brought into play... "spilling it" is the goal/intended outcome "99.9 out of 100 times". So it just seems stupid that so much attention and so much hate and damnation is brought into play, for this act which in and of it's self is insignificant in the scheme of things.

What about 15 year old pregnant Tina, (I won't go into abortion, because its another stupid insignificant thing) is it better for her to ruin her life and most likely doom her child as well as herself into a life of heartache, abuse, and poverty. Under the standards of the mormon church, it is better for both of them to commit themselves to a lackluster life, than for Martin and Shareece, the wealthy gay couple, to bring that child up and raise it the best they can, and give Tina a second chance. Hell what if they brought that child up "in" the mormon church, and many more unwanted children (who are now wanted), wouldn't that be the same result as Peter and Molly???

Clinton's argument about the word "is" relates to time-frame. At the time that the statement was made that there is no sexual relationship it was true because, at that point in time no sexual relationship existed. The relationship had ended. Clinton's argument is about the difference between "is" and "was."

It's been portrayed as a big semantics game for obvious reasons, but remember that Kenneth Starr was trying to go after Clinton for perjury. Clinton's argument about why what he said was true, and therefore not perjury, is actually pretty valid.
