The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

6 minutes through the 4th in the ORL-CHI game and both teams combined are 0-20. Commentators having the time of their life lol.
No ****ing way. That's insane

Giddey is having heck of a start to the season and seems to have put the scandal behind him. With his newly improved outside shooting (over 50% so far and 4 for 4 tonight) he's really got the full package. He's gonna get paid in the summer.

Eh....I don't know about that. Cody's finishing around the basket was definitely his best attribute in college, but Bilal was also extremely good around the basket in the French league and showed both touch+athleticism. It's one of the things that stuck out to me. Probably splitting hairs though. IMO, they are about the same skill level coming into the league but Bilal had significantly better physical tools and a significantly better motor/mentality.

Cody isn't this level of defensive playmaker.

Three first round picks in the 2022 draft did not have their options picked up today: Johnny Davis, Patrick Baldwin and David Roddy. Roddy was selected one pick after Kessler. Davis was a lottery pick.
I forgot Johnny Davis was even a person dude was supposed to be good.

PBJ was hyped as the next Durant in HS then followed his dad to some random mid major and killed his hype

Do you know how mid you have to be for a team to not pick up your option

If we had him instead of Hendricks our entire trajectory would be different
This may end up being a very sad note to DA draft history.
  • The information that we liked Bilal was definitely out there, but as far as I know Wizards were more tight-lipped about their interest.
  • We were reportedly looking to trade up, but it only took Wizards two 2nd round picks to block us from dealing with Indy, who were willing to trade down. Indy had a bigger risk dealing with us (dropping 2 spots further), but the fact that two 2nd rounders were enough to outbid whatever we may have offered sort of tells me we didnt really push for a bidding war there.
  • After the draft we went as far as to say that Hendricks was 9th on our big board. So we essentially admitted to being passive in a draft that many thought to be really good.

This is the definition of "Bad pass turnover". Jalen Johnson tries to throw a lob to Trae Young (yes, the names there are in the right order) over Bilal who easily steals it and scores a highlight reel put back dunk after pushing the ball up to Sarr who misses his attempt. :D

Bilal in 2023 and Topic in 2024 would've fed families

Way premature on Topic, but Bilal does look massively improved. He looks like one of those "super athletic raw talent" guys who lacked some fundamental basketball skills when they were drafted, but who actually ends up learning those skills.

Watch Cleveland today. Seems that Don get more matured and almost stop to play hero ball. Team really consistent. The funny things is that they have big ( who play like big) not trying to shoot 3 at all cost but rebounding and getting for easy buckets. they have PG who play like PG old style ( passing, setting tempo...), kind of basket of the 90-2000. Let's see where they can go but i really like how they play right now. Will follow them ore closely + Minny as looking the Jazz this year is pretty painful. At least i watch some good games.

Passing on Bub was a ****ing whifff
Who is bub?
Bilal? If so, iirc we didn't pass on him. He was taken before the jazz picked. There were some teams who actually did pass on him though since he was taken 7th.

Thanks.
Looked up his stats. He is looking good. 14th pick. Could have had him. But from what I recall hearing, the jazz thought that Cody Williams could have been the first pick in the draft and they absolutely loved him and were thrilled he fell to them.
