The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

NAW was more or less written off after being traded by the Pels and Blazers, even though the tools were there. Possible point of reference for Cody Williams.

I mean, maybe? But Cody's jumpshot is completely broken and he's one of the worst help defenders in the NBA so it's not like there are many paths here without massive development.

The Jazz are the 3rd or 4th worst team in the league and Cody can't crack the rotation. Andy Larsen says he's even been terrible in practice.

NAW in his 2nd season was very bleh and put up a fairly inefficient 11 PPG on 35% from three. He had a great first half of his fourth season with Utah before being bad post trade deadline as he adjusted. Then he's been good since.

Cody is averaging 3/1/0.5

That's the point. Nickeil struggled until his 4th season. Early on, you can say the Pels tried to make him a point guard and he was out of position, but he was out of the rotation later on in NOLA.

Cody has played a grand total of 30 minutes over 4 games this season. His stats are meaningless so far.

I don't really see many parallels between Cody and NAW except that they weren't good. But even then, NAW was on another level. It is true that players can still make it after struggling early on, but I don't see a reason why it applies as a reference to Cody versus the other guys that suck.

This is not a point of reference for Cody Williams. NAW actually looked like an NBA player from the jump and got worse with time which is why the Jazz could trade basically nothing to acquire him. Cody Williams has just been comically bad period.

Fetch might happen eventually but you’re still too eager to make it happen.

Cody has the tools and half the game to be an NBA player. If he gets the other half, he'll be impactful. Just needs to work on his strength and shooting mostly, then rep out a few spots on the floor where he'll be asked to score. In that sense, there are similarities with NAW.

I mean, the fact that Cody has played only 30 minutes on a team with no NBA caliber SGs is probably the worst statistic he has by far.

(this also goes for Sensabaugh)

He has tool...good length. That's about it. There's probably hundreds of different wings that are just as similar to NAW as Cody is to NAW.

Tre Johnson got the start tonight for the wizards. 29 minutes and 18 points.
