The Official 2014/15 Tank Watch thread

Posted this in the Draft thread --

Jazz offer Hood + 10 to Sacramento for 6 or 7 in the draft. Jazz get Hezonja or Winslow. Sacto gets Hood + Turner.

I want to move up pretty bad, but I don't think giving up Hood is the answer. I'd rather trade that OKC pick or a bunch of 2nd rounders. We have a ton of those. Maybe even that GS with some protection.

We can try it, but we'd be probably need to bribe the other team to let us take one of the top wings in this draft by giving them Hood instead and letting them take a quality big, assuming that's a pressing need for the other team. Sacramento might be the right scenario to pull this off. They need outside shooting, since McLemore and Stauskas haven't panned out, and they need a PF to put next to Cousins, replacing Jason Thompson and Carl Landry.

I doubt the OKC pick or a Jazz future pick is going to get us Hezonja.

Boston: Currently 35-42; Remaining: @Detroit, @Cleveland, Cleveland, Toronto, @Milwaukee --- Projection: 37 wins

Brooklyn: Currently 36-41; Remaining: Atlanta, Washington, @Milwaukee, Chicago, Orlando --- Projection: 38 wins

Indiana: Currently 34-43; Remaining: @Knicks, @Detroit, OKC, Washington, @Memphis --- Projection: 36 or 37 wins

Miami: Currently 34-43; Remaining: Charlotte, Chicago, Toronto, Orlando, Philadelphia --- Projection: 37 or 38 wins

Utah: Currently 35-42; Remaining: Sacramento, Memphis, @Portland, Dallas, @Houston --- Projections: 36 or 37 wins

Brooklyn beats Portland.

At this point I do not want to trade Hood, Exum, Gobert, Hayward, Favors or Burks unless it helps lands us a proven player. They are all going to be very good.

I'd rather the Jazz use their plethora of picks, foreign player rights and tradable pieces (Cotton, Cooley...) and Burke if needed to land a high draft pick if that is the Jazz's goal.

Or Jazz just get lucky and win the lottery. Then use those pieces to upgrade the bench.

Are we convinced that Hezonja is going to be better than Hood? I'm certainly not convinced. I've seen Hood have effective offense against NBA competition.

I'm not going to root for Jazz losses, but they won't bother me the rest of the season provided there are at least some positives from the games.

We may or may not be able to move up. Sacramento, Denver, and Detroit would likely be willing to talk. Our pick next year and our current pick would likely work. May have to add sweet dr like taking on a kind of bad contract or one of our euro dudes. If we landed 10th we may not need to worry about moving up as one of the wings or Frank will likely be there. Would be great to get the guy we want and preserve our draft assets for later.

I wonder if there's any chance of Hayward/Favors sitting out any games to give more playing time for Hood/Cooley/others.

Locke indicated that there was a chance of this.

At this point I want Hood, Gobert and Exum playing as much as possible. I hope all three are on the summer league team along witt our draft picks this year.

I wouldn't say we want to over play them though. We don't want to risk injury. But I would like to see Gobert and Exum practice some things on the offensive end. Rudy needs to try some in game shots, and Exum needs to take it to the hoop.
