The Official and Unfortunate R.I.P. Jazzfanz member thread

Going back ~12 years, what happened to Red and Black Attack, the Blazers fan? I'm pretty sure he was also Saxon over on the general realgm forums. He'd always suggest the most ludicrous trades.

Also still very curious about vinyl. A number of people said he's BluesRocker, which is silly. On that note, I'm assuming Hack is BluesRocker.

While I'm at it: stop changing your names. Pick one and stick with it. Do you think I like my name?

Definitely.

Harsh, but largely true. I had a hard time with the same when I first got here. I don't think there's a more basketball savvy fanbase than Kentucky's and the talk is technical and detailed. On the board I used to run, there was always AAU coaches, Scott van Pelt, sports radio guys, and even the occasional college coach dropping by for discussion.

I just more adapted to this site and what it is/has become. I've found I can write something detailed and long and no one responds.. so why waste time?

Anyway, even though you're a consistent smug *** in nearly every post, you're a definite favorite of mine and I would be severely disappointed if you ever quit posting.

What are you saying..............??

I'm saying this site has far less to do with actual basketball talk than humor of the homo variety, in particular.. I'm fine with it.. but you don't see many posts breaking down game film or debating defensive sets.. you see humor, you see griping, you see homerism.. but it's not a basketball board like most I've ever visited. I ain't even complainin doe.

You must not be reading my posts.

All I am ever sippin on is back door cuts, high pick n rolls, weakside help defense, full court press trappin, skip passes, 2-3 zones, helping the helper, adjustments adjustments adjustments, mismatches, and above all else, excecution!

Oh and red stagg + icehouse

That's all pretty simple stuff, fish. I think P was referring to people who know more than just generic strategies. We could use some fans who could call a UCLA cut, or a shuffle cut, or 4-1 pin-down screen upon seeing it live. I swear, the only basketball-guru when it comes to plays is VSlice, and franklin to a lesser extent (pardon me if I'm forgetting others).

Ya I was being sarcastic really
I know I'm not an x and o's guy.... more of a what you sippin on type, which is really the reason why I love jazzfanz.
Keep all that basketball strategy ******** talk outta hear!
Jk kinda.

Ok and I would probably add gvc to your list of knowledgeable folks even if he is kind of a prick about it

I visit the few viable NBA forums I can find and they have virtually zero discussion of bbal mechanics. It's more about the ride and either loving or hating players.

I suspect the difference here is a fanbase that has been educated just enough on Sloan's system to Dunning Kruger the hell out of every attempt at discussing system tweaks. We're overloaded with "Corbinz don make teh defensive jussmentz" comments from posters incompetent to recognize the ones he has made, or to recommend anything specific. Makes the JF sound like a heard of inbred mules being prepped for a cinco de mayo donkey show. FRIT-HAWWWW

The only reason I post there is out of sheer boredom at a desk job. And the occasional lolz.

What can I say, we're just not intelligent enough to take it all in at once. Better to share tiny snippets of wisdom with us, then add little by little as we show comprehension and absorption. Its a WIN/WIN: we avoid having our heads explode and you build up your post count.

That is not what I was implying...

What I said, and meant, was that it seems posters (for the most part) here only really respond to humor and sarcasm. After a while I just assumed no one really wanted to talk the dirty details of basketball. No offense intended.

Actually let's rehash this...

ESPN with all their resources and all its money.. they could buy all the "experts" or "washed-up" coaches/scouts/GM's all they want and have a whole 1 hour Finals specials on the different plays that the Heats run.. or the different defensive schemes the Spurs run...

But what do they do? They settled for Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless discussing LeBron's "Clutchness".

Why is that?

Why is that?

For one thing: It's be hard to talk about tape and plays for an hour without talking about the flops and bad calls and star bias.
For another: monopoly.
For a third: that sounds like a lot of work. Easier to keep doing what they've been doing.
For a 4th: they probably think what they are doing makes the most money with the least risk.
