The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

Trump is the greatest gift the liberals could ever wish for. He has exposed the Republican Party. Every voter will be thinking "can we trust a party that gave us a man so obviously amoral and incapable of running our country?

The libs will take control of Senate, House and POTUS. Thanks to IMPOTUS45's gullible backers.

Wait, was Trump a liberal "plant" all along? Was it his mission to weaken the country? (And here we thought it was just part of a Putin plan)

It will be interesting watching all the sycophants jump off the burning ship and explaining why they never really supported Trump.

PS: I'm old enough to remember an era where the story was "Yes, Nixon was corrupt, but so are all politicians, Nixon just got caught" What will the post-Trump narrative be so folks can save face with their children and grandchildren?

Well, let me just say, I really wish trump hadn’t happened. I think the damage he’s done to our country, both domestically and abroad, will take years (if ever) to repair.

But I will say this, I am grateful that he’s exposed the “pro life”, “family values”, free market capitalists, and the “fiscal hawks” for the frauds that we all knew they were. We couldn’t have done it without he and the GOP!

The pro life movement was never about actually Protecting life. It was always about being anti-choice and putting women in their place. It’s why they never proposed anything that would’ve helped the baby or the mother (health care, education, etc).

We all knew “family values” was code against LGBT community. It has nothing to do with actually the family or having any set of moral values. After excusing Donald’s extra curricular activities and his administration’s cruelty towards immigrant children, Republicans have utterly lost the moral high ground.

We all knew that cries of “socialism” were mere excuses to prevent poor and POC from receiving equitable health care, education, and economic aid. After years of Donald’s handouts and trade wars, the entire “free market capitalism” fallacy has been Nakedly exposed. Republicans have no problem with crony capitalism. They only claim to be pro free market (but are really pro crony capitalism) when Democrats propose a fairer capitalism towards poor people and POC.

Finally, the fiscal hawks that were so loud under Obama have become silent under trump. Whether we were blowing up the deficit for tax cuts, farm handouts, out of control defense spending, etc those who cried loudest under Obama have been deathly silent. As this pandemic has raged, we’ve seen the necessity for a much stronger social safety net. As minorities have become the greatest casualty in this pandemic, I think the unfairness of our society has become apparent.

The true casualty of this pandemic won’t be the dead but if we don’t make the necessary changes needed for a better society and government.

* We need stronger safety nets and universal health care.
* We need better sick leave and fairer pay.
* We need greatest investment in research and better collaboration between countries.
* We need universal vote by mail. Not only for working people but in the case of a pandemic.
* We need better more connected communities and civic engagement. We need capitalism to work for people, not just for the president's buddies or the Senate Majority Leader's political donors.
* We need better religious leaders. You cannot be a good Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, etc and support Trump. He’s the most immoral leader we’ve ever seen. If your religion can’t stand up now against such gross immorality, then it’s really not a religion worth standing up for.
* We need the media to do better. Just today I saw on MSNBC The Mooch giving us his 2 cents about the virus. Why? What expertise does he have? Fox News is responsible for countless deaths and suffering due to its disinformation campaign.
* Finally, we need an executive that’s trustworthy, empathetic, and competent. I don’t want government to act as a business. I want it to act as more of a protectorate for our most vulnerable.

Perfect example of what we’re talking about there @silesian. Forgiven but voters? What about the thousands dead? Doesn’t that matter? Any moral president would be horrified by the death and suffering. Not trump and “pro life” republicans. They’re worried about the politics of it. The death isn’t what scares them. It’s the prospect of losing power that scares them.

Which part of this didn't he actually say?
Turn on CNN or MSNBC. They are saying repeatedly that Trump instructed Americans to inject Lysol into their veins and to drink bleach. Can you find an actual example of Trump saying either thing? In the quote I heard he talked about how we were able to kill the virus with cleaners on surfaces and then wondered aloud whether there was a way to clean people internally. I agree that he should not be saying such things, especially in front of media that despises him so badly.

I heard a physician on TV this morning say they are currently considering the possibility of injecting low risk people with the virus in order to create potential immunity. Imagine if Trump said something like that. Haters would be losing their minds.

Fixed it for you.
Also regarding your last couple sentences. Agree to disagree.

I don’t think Joe was hung up on whether or not he used the word Lysol. What I’m reading is that he’s saying that Trump was having a side conversation on hypotheticals of how it could be treated, with sunlight in the body or a disinfectant, and that he did not say these were treatments nor that people should do this. They are most certainly stupid thoughts and hypotheticals, but as stupid as they are it’s still not him suggesting people drink [insert whatever you want] or inject [insert product of your choice].
Correct. While it is relevant that he didn't make the Lysol or bleach claims, it is even more important that he did not tell people to inject or drink anything. That doesn't matter at all to the media, though. They hate everything about him so in their minds misreporting his words is a public service.

Should Trump have been speculating? No. Did he say what they claim he did? No.

not sure who “they” are. The reporting I have seen has accurately represented what trump said. So “they” us not everyone. Is it 1% wacky jobs or 10% or 20%?

I’m not sure if you are referring to one wacky reporter or headlines across the board. I read more conservative stuff from wsj and the economist, etc, do I’m not saying people are not reporting the news irresponsibly. But if I had quotes from multiple sources then we can discuss the veracity if your claim.

My mother doesn't even try to save face about Nixon. She still doesn't think he did anything that bad. So of course she votes for Trump.

If he was speculating about cleaning internally with disinfectant, what method besides drinking or injecting do you think he meant? It's a logical conclusion to what he said.

But he's not Trump so we're good....

Much like happened with Kavanaugh, dredging up decades old accusations is wrong regardless of if you have a D or R by your name. Biden could have done it, but can you prove anything at this point? Considering Trump's history, it's a hard talking point for them to take the high road.

It's a sad state of affairs that in a country of 330 million people, these are the two candidates it comes down to, but here we are. I can't give Trump another four years when he's proved so rudderless.
