What's new

The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

I don't think I'm stupid at all, and all one had to do was follow along closely the past three years to at least see Trump's deference to Putin. Your own opinion of Trump strikes me as inexplicably naive, like you've been living under a rock, such as the observation "he wants everyone to do well". Say what? An inexplicably incorrect assessment IMO.

But, in truth, I think the dueling narratives, and the fact that each side has extreme difficulty understanding the other, trying to understand what it can possibly be like in the other's shoes, is one of the most interesting, and perplexing, and daunting, phenomenon in our present crisis.

I am continually baffled by Trump fans who are absolutely blind to that which is so easy to see. I have no idea what you see in the guy, and listening to you and his other supporters here describe him, leaves me wondering if we live in the same country and if we're talking about the same guy.

I will be the only non-Trump fan at Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. It might be a really long day.

What you are describing is a sort of inertial social reality I don't know if we can really overcome exactly. The Way Things Are. It's like inheriting a British Estate with the house staff and gardeners. They know how things should be done, and usually just don't want to be told something else. I think it is a problem for corporations and small businesses, too..... even for families.

I don't disagree, but it really complicates accountability, and how to hold our elected officials to any standard of integrity. What I hear conservatives saying is a whole lot of "yeah, but [insert Democrat] did [insert corrupt thing]", as if to say that since that went unprosecuted, so should this. Probably all acts should be called out and dealt with, but the reality is they aren't, and Obama/Clinton/Biden (assuming they did something criminal) simply weren't brought to justice. Since we clearly have to start somewhere in order to bring about change, why not start here? Why not Trump? What is it, exactly, that makes him untouchable, other than angry-fist-shaking at how unfair it is that [insert Democrat] got away with it, and so should he. I mean... that's really some playground justice thinking ********, isn't it? The fact efforts to call out Trump and hold him accountable have been more effective, and gotten a lot further, than any attempts to do the same with [insert Democrat] doesn't invalidate those efforts. It's just bitter beans on the part of that side of the political spectrum.

Very normal for a world leader to tweet this

Be honest, if this were your grandpa tweeting out nonsense like this, you’d be looking to take away his car keys and put him in a home. But this guy has access to 2,000 nuclear warheads. And we want to give him even more time in office? Crazy.

Good luck, I salute you.

Fortunately there isn't a single Trump supporter on my side of the family, where we will be tomorrow, although there are many on my wife's side.

North Korea firing off missiles again today.

“Kim considers Trump as his political hostage and sees himself in a position to dictate the terms of the deal by demonstrating his capability to influence Trump’s chance for re-election,” said Chun Yungwoo, South Korea’s former chief envoy to international nuclear disarmament talks with North Korea.
