The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

So the better course of action would be.......?

House Dems should have released the Ukraine info to the public, publicly discussed the idea of possible impeachment, then announced we'll just let the people decide in 2020.

Once they started impeachment proceedings they were relying on trying to sell feelings and opinions to the public as a reason to support impeaching a sitting president. TOUGH sell.

So what you are saying is that Trump is untouchable and rather than trying to hold him accountable for things he does as president they should simply focus on winning the next election and just look the other way while he is President.

It doesn't really matter what I want. I wasn't stating what I want in that post. I was stating what is going to happen.

If you look at impeachment inquiry/impeachment + removal polls the American people are telling us all we need to know. Before the news regarding Ukraine released support for inquiry/impeachment was about 40%. Right after the news about Ukraine broke it rose sharply to about 47%. It peaked in mid October at about 49% and has been declining since. It's down to about 47%.

What does this tell us?

It says the American people were intrigued by the Ukraine scandal. They wanted to hear the story and come to a conclusion. Support peaked right around the time the hearings were to begin. The hearings took place and most Americans either 1) Felt it was a political game by democrats, 2) Felt like the testimonies relied too much on feelings/opinions/interpretations of what happened instead of hard evidence, 3) Believed the story but didn't find it damning enough to support impeachment.

Whatever the case democrats have failed to convince the public. The only things they've succeeded in doing is riling up Trump's hardcore base to be more passionate about 2020 than 2016, losing possible 2020 independent voters who are now upset that the only thing that is getting done is an impeachment they don't support, and very likely losing house seats in democrats won in Trump won districts in 2016.

2020 gonna be ugly for Dems trust me. If they thought 2016 was a nightmare... ay yi yi.

I have no dog in the fight by the way. I'm happily independent. Sick of 99% of these people this country puts in office tbh.

You’re not being honest here. You’re conflating polls that ask if the impeachment inquiry should begin and if trump should be impeached and removed.

support for the inquiry and impeachment have been consistent for 2 months in the mid to high 50s. Support for impeachment and removal in the mid to high 40s.

btw, support for impeachment has been much higher for trump than nixon.

If one political party decides to support a wannabe dictator who doesn’t care a lick about that party’s ideology and values, what does that tell you about that party?

He's also saying that if a president abuses his power to give himself an advantage in his reelection, the branch of government tasked with restraining the president should ignore their constitutional duties and allow that election to decide his fate. This makes absolutely no sense.

Haha!

omg executive orders are now an abuse of power. This is shocking.

seriously, you have to try harder.

It's simple. Huckabee wants a cabinet post.

Let's address this ridiculous narrative that impeachment is used to undo an election.

If Trump is impeached and removed... Hillary doesn't become President. The election is not reversed or undone. Pence would become the President. That's how that works.

Trump is such a ****ing turd that despite his entire Presidency being impeachable we've lowered the standard of the office so that Trump has to do something beyond the pale for Trump, not for a President of the United States of America. Since The U.S. elected a pile of steaming **** the standard now is that the pile of **** has to do something that's reprehensible even for a steaming pile of ****.

That's where we're at. And since Trump set the bar on the ****ing ground to begin with there's pretty much no way he can sink so low as to disappoint his followers.

This.
So genius that only ****ing idiots would fall for it.

We all saw republicans ask questions of each witness.

dude, your lies are so easy to refute. Start working on building some credibility. The truth is a good place to begin.

Well she didn't win because she's well... The people decided that on election night.

Again, you complained that people wanted to impeach Trump since day one.
I'm pointing out that it isn't only something that happens with Trump. In fact with a two party system that's extremely partisan and both sides hate the other it's actually quite common.
Simple solution? Don't give them anything to impeach you for.
You should be mad at Trump for providing material.
