What's new

The Walking Dead

I'd rather have a fuel economic SUV like the one that Glenn is already driving. With gas in short supply a Humvee would be a disaster.

I'd still take a Humvee and use it only when certain situations called for it. I'd put a nice heavy duty steal guard on the front in the event I needed to hit something.

The Michonne part was awesome. I thought about and I wanted to know why her pet zombies wouldn't come after her. I know they are armless and jawless but you'd think they'd still come after her. Maybe her cloak hides her scent and they have just adapted to following her. Makes sense why she has them like that, would be a good protection to get past other zombies by hiding your smell.

You still need gas and ammo.

That is why I said I would have 3 man teams rotate each day and go scavange for gas, meds, ammo, food... Plus if you have a group of people in a stand off and you have a guy behind a .50 cal that adds intimidation and they are less likely to attacks.

I would assume that there was no ammo for the weapons. The soldiers ran out hence the reason they got overrun.

I saw a .50 cal that had live rounds ready to go. I am willing to guess that not all of those M16s are empty. In response to Cy.... I don't think we are over thinking it. I think it is bad writing. Like previously stated, they took no emergency measures to save themselves if worst came to worst. They need to improve the writing drastically.

Differing of opinions. I'm sorry, but if the show was just them stocking up on ammo and fortifying the farm the show would be boring. Personal conflict and struggle has priority over the daily grind of living in a zombie world.

Definite difference of opinion. I think it would be believable and actually a better show to watch instead of just rehashing the same old stories. Shane is finally dead which is good. But other than that, the show is pretty boring and unbelievably stupid. Another poster had a great point, don't show the military grade weapons if you have no plans of having your characters use common sense and grab them. I mean, a bolt action rifle is so much more logical in combat than say an M4 or M16......

Still a show that makes me scratch my head. I probably should just give up on it at this point. Atlanta is littered with military grade weapons(prior to going to the farm) and presumably ammunition. Yet they continue to use handguns, hunting rifles, and shotguns. As far as the characters, I think Rick is becoming more cold(which is good) as an individual. Lori needs to be killed off. Hated her as an actor in Prison Break and she is as bad if not worse in this show.

did you ever shoot with a ak47 or m16. and tried precise headshots? headshots are easier with glocks, i'd take an extended glock magazine above a fullasusalt rifle vs zombies anyday.
then again some fuill assualt rifles could be set to automatich making it easier to shoot. problem with noobs is they woudl put it on full auto and blast bullets everywhere hitting everywhere except the head. making more noise calling more zombies

Or the fact that they never barricaded and fortified the place. Dig ditches, reinforce fences, move into the farm, secure windows and dors, have an escape plan and a rendevous place, make a triple brick wall with adobe bricks. It is a damn forrest and you have tons of water, dirt and pine needles. That and liek you said stock up on food, weapons, fuel, medicine, clothes, tools, seeds, clothes, wood...
they started doing that in the comics at about 70-80
th edition using cars as baricades to thin the herd near the settlement. dug trenches and used the sand to einforce the wall. then the few that get through the cars and land in the trenches get cut up by michone and other guys on patrol

it might bring some unwanted antention, scavenging in a larger radius increasing the likeylhood meeting other survivors, which a lot of them arent really that sane which brings a diferent risk

Zombies are not the only threat in their world. See the Govenor.

Also I didn't say I would send them out blowing on trumpets driving a tank. I specifically mentioned Glenn and Darryl as leaders of my scavangeing teams because they know how to sneak around. Not doing something that you know will dramatically increase your chances of survival because something bad might happen is foolish. Take precautions and err on the side of caution while out scavanging but to do nothing is what got them in the situation like the season 2 finale and it cost them the lives of 2 people and their safe house.

Edit: Also looking for other survivors (within reason) is a good thing. You are out scavanging and find a family holed up in a home barely making it well...feel them out give them a little food and tell them you will be back tomorrow. Then go and talk it over with the other group members and bring Rick or someone to meet them and if the look like they are ok then bring them back and make them part of the group. Once you do make sure yo umix old and new people in groups so there is no cliques or any of that other H.S. crap.
