What's new

this team might just suck.

Wow, resorting to insults to any who disagree with you is so last year. Let me use one if my Masters Degrees tobtry abd explain. The Jazz have been amazing in a few games, putting up huge scores at staggering efficiency (Like the GS game), however they have clapped the bed in many games also. The 53.2% is an average. If I shoot 100% in one game and 0% in the next, I’m shooting 50% and you my friend would claim I was good? If anything, the good shooting games are the outliers, hence our record. However, at your insistance. I will take my dumbass brain and forget about how statistics can lie.
There's been 30 games...

How many of the next 6 games do we win? We've got Houston on the road, GS at home, Portland on the road, OKC at home on a back 2 back, Portland and Philly at home. I have a hard time seeing us winning more than 2 of those and I wouldn't be completely shocked if we only win 1 or even lose all 6.

1....Jazz will again be approaching 10 games below .500 and at that point it is time to come to reality. The run that happened last year was historical. It isn’t happening again people. Jazz needed to win a game like today if they are good. They are not. Time to come to terms with that. It amazes me how some of you act like this is freaking out or something. There’s a very good chance in the next 10 games Jazz will find themselves close to 10 games below .500. Coming back from that would take another huge run. I’ve looked at their schedule from January-April. Good luck with making that run again.

Props to Cy for putting up the good fight against several different over-reactions, poor arguments, and blame games in a single evening. Not always a fan of his style, but I trust that the substance of his opinions are well-thought through and not knee-jerk.

A week from now if the Jazz are 14-20 can we have a talk everyone who says people are “freaking out”? Or will it still be too early to talk?

It’s all good it’s only a game and good to see Jazz fans passionate, even if we all disagree.
It was still an inaccurate analogy since in your example you used a two game sample size (I'm going to assume that you're taking the same amount of shots in each game to get to your 50% since you claim to be using a masters degree for that) when the Jazz season has been a 30 game sample size and much more varied than your example.

Also, for what it's worth, the GSW game isn't even close to the best offensive performance for the Jazz this season. It ranks 9th in TS% and 7th in ORTG. Their opening night performance against the Kings is hands down the best offensive performance from the team all season, the team shot a ridiculous 74.9 TS% and had an ORTG of 135.6. Their 2nd best game offensively was against the Celtics on the 9th of November at home.

Considering they're about to go through another ridiculous stretch of games put me in #TeamTooEarly even if the Jazz manage to lose their next 5 or 6. Look at the schedule

@ Rockets
vs Warriors
@ Blazers
vs Thunder (B2B)
vs Blazers
vs Sixers

They finally get more than two home games in a row and they're all against playoff level teams from both conferences lol. Compare that to a similar stretch of games around early-mid January

vs Magic
vs Lakers
vs Bulls (B2B)
vs Pistons
@ Clippers
vs Cavs

If they close out that stretch and go 2 - 4 or something then I'll be looking for that panic button.

Like when you called Derrick Rose "looked like he had been done" when he averaged 18pts and 10 pts the last two seasons, then singlehandedly outproduced Thabo, Neto, Dante and Royce combined this season?

Like when you refused to admit the fact that our bench has been hot garbage and then pointed to Tobias Harris for production, which is a direct result from the lack of talent/production from our bench?

Like when you called an ugly loss tonight "a step in the right direction"?

As for the topic of the thread: it's entirely possible that the Jazz may not be as good as expectations would have led us to believe. Maybe last year was over-achievement. Maybe the defense won't fully click like it did last year. And getting more good shooters/scorers would surely help in the long run. If smart moves can be made, I hope DL makes them--but not just moves for the sake of making moves.
There's still a lot of time left in the season and I trust that the franchise is in good hands, from management to coaches to players.
I prefer to let things play out rather than rush to find scapegoats.

Just my style, I suppose. To each, their own ...
