What's new

this team might just suck.

Too early, you’re using the toughest stretch of the season to validate your point.
No, what validated my point is they’ve lost too many games already and this next stretch is going to kick their record into the ground. Losing 5 or 6 games this early like they’ve done is going to kill them come April. They are already two games below .500, this next stretch will put them much farther below it and they are playing teams we thought they would be on the same level as....yet here we are saying the schedule is so tough and we all expect them to lose most of these upcoming games.

Considering they're about to go through another ridiculous stretch of games put me in #TeamTooEarly even if the Jazz manage to lose their next 5 or 6. Look at the schedule

@ Rockets
vs Warriors
@ Blazers
vs Thunder (B2B)
vs Blazers
vs Sixers

They finally get more than two home games in a row and they're all against playoff level teams from both conferences lol. Compare that to a similar stretch of games around early-mid January

vs Magic
vs Lakers
vs Bulls (B2B)
vs Pistons
@ Clippers
vs Cavs

If they close out that stretch and go 2 - 4 or something then I'll be looking for that panic button.
The problem with getting so far behind over the next stretch is you need to go 5-1 on stretches like that. I’m not going to say the Jazz are definitively better than the Lakers anymore. Clippers could get them. Even going 4-2 there wouldn’t be great, especially when you’re losing to teams you’re fighting for a spot with. We’ll see. Some of you are hoping they go on this huge run again when the problem is a lot of the bad teams who would just roll over at the end of last year aren’t as bad this year and will be wanting a playoff spot, even bad eastern conference teams. They’re putting themselves in a position they have to play perfect and win games they aren’t supposed to, which they haven’t done.

Like when you called Derrick Rose "looked like he had been done" when he averaged 18pts and 10 pts the last two seasons, then singlehandedly outproduced Thabo, Neto, Dante and Royce combined this season?

Like when you refused to admit the fact that our bench has been hot garbage and then pointed to Tobias Harris for production, which is a direct result from the lack of talent/production from our bench?

Like when you called an ugly loss tonight "a step in the right direction"?

So where did I contradict myself? Because that's just a lot of stuff I said that you disagree with. Let me repeat everything I said. I know kids do this to learn. Repetition and stuff.

1. Last season Derrick Rose had a -7.8 BPM and was going through a RAPE CASE. The years before that it was -1.9, -3.3, and -1.3. Add to that fact before this season he was one of the worst 3pt shooters in the history of the 3pt era (before this year), he had no interest in being a 3rd string PG, has a terrible injury history, and HE HAD A ****ING RAPE CASE.

2. Again, the bench isnt the issue. I used Harris an example because he's a free agent. The issue is overall scoring ability. It's not directly related to anything on the bench. If the starting lineup had another primary/secondary scorer, the bench would look much better because their would be more lineups with scoring to use. The focus should be on making an addition to the starting lineup, not the bench. The bench is good.

3. I've been consistent on why I think the defense continuing to trend towards elite is a step in the right direction. I don't know how I've possibly contradicted myself there since I've been pretty clear on why I think defense is important because it's the identity of the team and the main factor in why the Jazz where a 2nd round playoff team last year.

It’s all good it’s only a game and good to see Jazz fans passionate, even if we all disagree.
Nah, you don't to do that. This isnt an "agree to disagree" thing. It's not an opinion.

There is every Jazz game. You can sort them by effective field goal percentage.
# of Games:

>70%: 1 (Spurs game)
>65%: 1
>60%: 3
>55%: 10
>50%: 5
>45%: 5
>40%: 3
>35%: 1 (Mexico game)
>30%: 1 (Dallas game)

So you can see the greatest clump of games come between 45% and 60% with 20 games in that area. Of that clump, 50% of those games above 55%.

When the Jazz went on their run last year they shot well even Bricky Ricky. If they don't do that again hello lottery.
The Jazz actually shot better from 3 last year in the first half of the season (Before January 1st) than they did post January 1st. So you're wrong.

Again, I will repeat it, the Jazz went on the run last year because of defense.

Of course they do need to shoot better. They are shooting worse this year than they were for any stretch last year, but it's not like they have to shoot lights out to win. They just have to be average.

D'Angelo Russell. Go get him. The Nets have to be wavering on him right now just like Washington was wavering on Oubre.

Take Crabbe (who I think we could trade later). Send an unprotected 1st. I don't care. Go get somebody we can get excited about.

Russell Another slow unathletic player just what the jazz need

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you. Russell is a guy who is on fire from mid-range right now. He's a good shooter, but a lot of that seems unsustainable. He is terrible at getting to the FT line, like unfathomably bad. His combo of high usage and low free throw rate is as close to an automatic turnoff as it gets. He might be more of a 6th man than a starter. He's playing like Rodney Hood who passes a bit more but holds the ball longer.

I wouldn't mind trading for him, but I wouldn't give up a first or take back a bad contract. So unless they want to give him away for some combo of a 2nd rounder, Jae Crowder, and Grayson Allen, I wouldn't do it.

And honestly, I don't even know if I would do that. Russell could get overpaid. It's a Rodney Hood situation right now for the Nets. His stats are inflated on a bad team where they need his usage, so he puts up better counting stats.
