What's new

Through Jesus, I am defined by being God's child.

Why so angry, Stickler? I don't remember anyone asserting that it was a new concept. It just came up and we discussed it a little.

Like I said in my first post, I can respect that others look at it differently than I. I don't have a problem with it. But I didn't expect anyone to get worked up over such an innocuous bit of chatter.

I'm not angry at all. I thought it was funny.

Basically I have said if you fall into this category, do not give up hope of receiving an answer, and continue tweaking, and trying.

Thats all.

Love Spazz

That sounds much more reasonable than what I was hearing. Thank you.

By the way, I like the welding mask you always wear.
Does it help you see better, or does the light hurt your eyes?

I apologize for the rest of the world because we are not as smart as you, or the next to smartest person that ever existed... Einstein

Nowhere in my post did I insult your intelligence or say I was smarter than you. I thought it was hilarious that you guys were talking to each other as if it was amazing to discover that there is anybody else who believes what almost everybody believes. I honestly laughed, in a good-natured way. Not an angry way. What is it that you think I am blind to?

It's really shocking that you guys all agree on your really unique idea that God does His works through science. This is a really new idea. People haven't been talking about this for a century. When you talk to rank-and-file LDS, they don't almost all share this exact same opinion. I'd say pat yourselves on the back, but, you know, you're way ahead of me. I'm going to spend some time browsing through my great grandfather's copy of "Joseph Smith As Scientist" this afternoon, just so I can start to think about getting in on this amazing new concept.

I don't know nothing about any of that. I just thought it was cool. Worshipped for flicking yer bic.

Not quite sure where that is coming from, but it's all good Sticky. I mostly brought this up because my wife HATES science and is the poster-girl for stereotypical Mo's. She honestly believes that Dinosaurs never roamed the Earth. Dead serious. A lot of my faith in God is because of science, hers is faith in scripture. I respect both (not really, she's a tard).

I have honestly never met a Mormon who doesn't believe in dinosaurs. :) That strikes me as being super unusual!

See my above quote: She's a tard. If you really want to bang your head into the wall, ask her about evolution and/or politics. Maybe that's why we Ying and Yang so well?

My Wife > Science

Maybe I don't get out much and talk to very many people about this subject, so it is enjoyable to me.
I was just giving you crap because you thought it would be funny to rain on someone else's parade when you didn't have to.
Notice the the lame smiley face in that post. On my make believe planet, that means I am just messing around.

Everyone should. We get to watch one coach the Jazz every single game.

I'm not angry at all.

My bad, then.

If god works through science, where does evolution fall into all of that? As it pertains to all species, including humans? Are the 6 days to create reality 6 days literally or 6 general increments that span billions of years?

Much like Spazz, I am not entirely clear on this. Evolution is obviously occurring, so I assume that is a method in God's repertoire. As has been pointed out several times - from both sides of the discussion - the Bible is a compilation of the thoughts of men and therefore reflects their understanding. It's based in faith in God, but is not his work directly. I would guess that the 6 days is really just a device to help men understand the overall creation story. Kind of like dividing earth's history into geological periods. I am also pretty sure - and this has been touched on also - that the stories in the Bible are based in fact, but probably don't represent exact accounts of the actual history. Stories that have been passed along and/or recorded after the manner of the author's interpretation.

But I pretty much work under the assumption that God knows what he's doing and man, for the most part, doesn't.
