Trade deadline discussion

you mean that same Crowder who helped his team reach back to back NBA finals, that same Allen who's playing solid rotation minutes and starting backcourt role on the defending champion, that same Clarke who's averaging 15 and 8 over his past seven games to help his team win 10 straight games and overtake the Jazz for the third seed in the West?

All for the Michael Conley the GOD to help elevate the Jazz from second round exit in 2018......to second round exit in 2021.

Yeah, what a steal
I guess the grass is always greener when your IQ is below 40

That is what I am expecting. I still won't be happy but that is the most likely outcome.

Hello 2nd round exit my old friend....
we like our guys and they are too good and too valuable to us. won't trade them for anyone else.

there were better players on the market? can't afford those guys anyways.

Great post and completely correct.

explain to me how trading Crowder, Allen and Clarke for Mike Conley is a steal then we can talk about IQs.

Bucks won the NBA championship. Phoenix is one seed in the west after competing in the NBA finals. Memphis just won 10 straight, took the third seed from us and showed no sign of slowing down. We are a team on a 4game losing streak on its way into one of the league's toughest schedule.

What if, yeah, just what if, the grass is actually greener on those teams?

Grayson Allen, Jae Crowder, Brandon Clarke, and late first rounder are not equal to Mike COnley. It was a ****ing steal you damn moron.
There is a cap space element that helped Memphis... not that we would have been able to utilize it like they did. someone broke it down but they were also able to essentially acquire Bane and Melton with the space they opened up. Bane was acquired draft night by taking on Enes Kanter's deal.

We wouldn't have been able to do that per se... but we would have had additional functional cap space that DL would have used to sign so many backup centers. Have to factor some of that into the deal.

I'd say its the rare deal that worked for both teams. Covid effed it up quite a bit... then last year the combo of both guards getting injured really hurt us. All in all it was a fair deal. May not be what I would have done and I would have liked to pay about 25% less but sometimes there isn't a better deal coming.

I want to be done complaining about the Conley deal, but I don't think I'll get there until these two things happen:

- this year's draft pick is selected meaning we are FINALLY done paying for him
- Conley helps us get over a hump we couldn't without him

Yeah, I didnt mean steal as in it ****ed Memphis. Obviously Memphis did well in the trade for their needs.

Yeah, this response is proof of brain rot.

They negotiated a great deal... like I said got 25% more than I would have liked (would have loved to sub Exum in for Jae, or make them eat the Exum deal, or retain a 1st).

To argue that Mike has been worse than Jae is dumb. Brandon Clarke is fun but he's an 8th man with a funky fit. We ended up getting what we were looking for and saw the impact on offense.

The issue on the Mike deal was that we pivoted from ****** shooters who play defense and fully swung the other way. It helped us take the next step but we really should have moved on from Favs or Ricky earlier and seen what that looked like.

We shot our shot and it was a solid shot. If we hadn't effed up the other stuff around it on the margins we'd be sitting pretty... say we didn't sign Favs or we drafted Bane or didn't do the Ed Davis deal... We missed so badly on those deals and need the assets or space we wasted cleaning that **** up. We are still in a good position but I don't see us as equal to GS and Phoenix and they have another deal or two they can do (though it gets hard for GS).

That is the frustrating thing about the DL era... he got some of the biggest most important things right but then screwed up so bad on the fringes (not all the fringe moves but a good amount). We needed one more "win" to follow up the Conley deal and whiffed... a lot.

it was a steal for Memphis. It saved them from the misery of having to overpay Mike Conley for over 30mil a year, giving Morant all the necessary minutes to develop his game, acquiring multiple rotation players and draft picks in the process. they wouldn't have gotten any better offer for Conley.
