Trade deadline discussion

Justin Holiday would be a really good fit, near perfect.

He shoots a ton of 3's and he makes 38% of them.

Plays solid defense. Has length. He's good enough to be a starter if called upon.

I advocated signing him instead of Clarkson back when we re-signed Clarkson.

Hard to think that the Pacers won't be able to get a 2nd rounder out of him though, so maybe Utah should pony up (but they have nothing to really pony up with sadly).

The best case scenario would be the Jazz do the Ingles trade for Holiday/Craig and are somehow able to trade Clarkson for some 2nd rounders. Use those 2nd rounders to sweeten the deal for Indy to get Holiday/Craig.

One thing I have wondered with this Philly Harden BS. The threat of them doing a sign and trade in the offseason is not all that real. They can't just sign Harden outright. If I am Brooklyn I hold out for a lot more than just a BS for Harden swap.

The issue is Philly would have to dump a lot of salary to do a sign and trade... even more to just sign Harden outright. They will be hard pressed to find a team to take Tobias Harris straight into cap space.... so they almost need to move him now for smaller contracts or expiring money. I wonder what draft capital they would be willing to part with to do so.

I think he only worth like half his contract number... but if they were willing to add two firsts to take him in a swap of Bogey/Ingles/stuff... Philly acts like they are in the driver's seat here and they have very little real leverage if folks call their bluff.

I like Holiday too. Seems like a low risk too since he's only making $6 million this year and $6.2 next.

I think he'd be great. Better against the guys Royce struggles to stay with. Willing and good shooter.

He is unvaccinated and that likely hurts his value quite a bit. Someone brought up that our protocols would change because of him as well. Not sure how big of a pain it is but he may get moved for less than we think.

Now that they are off of Levert's deal they could become a cap room team (I know its Indiana... but still). We might help them out by taking Holiday and Craig so next years books are even cleaner.

His name is out there A LOT! I think he is really available. If the deal of Hart and stuff for CJ is out there I can't imagine something around Hart and JC is completely out of the realm of possibility. If you are NOP and you are having to add stuff and take a huge CJ deal.. maybe the JC deal where you get a lil something something is a nice substitute?

Hart has been on my radar for so long. I think he's a good player and one that we need, but I also never thought they valued him and he didn't want to be there either. He only got $12M guaranteed this summer. That contract was signed to be traded....wouldn't even surprise me if they had an informal agreement that they would promise to trade him.

I thought his trade potential was dying out because he's played so well this year....but you're right his name is out there more than ever. Would love to get him on this team. And on the friend thing, he is good friends with Mitchell but Josh Hart is a dude that everyone likes (except Omari Spellman lol) . He's great for chemistry. I remember him seeing on a gaming podcast with Rudy Gobert.

Hey, if being unvaccinated makes him cheaper to get, I'm not complaining.

Hart will be president of the player's union one day.

I also wouldn't be shocked if they had a wink wink type of deal with him... and if they go into the offseason with his deal everyone knows its basically an expiring deal since he has a player option on the third year... so it is only downside (if he got hurt).

I'd do JC/Ingles for Hart/Sato and send them a top 14 protected first that turns into seconds... saves us like $10M between tax and salary... doesn't cost them a lot extra. They get to say they got a first for him even if it isn't a great one.

Couple quick thoughts:

-If Clarkson isn't traded, it's because no one wants him, and it's not for a lack of trying.
-Jaylen Brown isn't gettable, and wouldn't be worth DM. Y'all are nuts. As an aside, anyone with a concern about DM's ego would flip out about Brown's.
-I'm expecting not much to happen; at most, Ingles for Richardson. The Jazz don't have much in the way of assets, most of the teams that want the same players we do have better assets,
and Ainge tries not to make a deal where he's not the clear winner (even if it would be a win-win otherwise.) Not trying to be a downer, but trying to be realistic.
-If I could buy a 1 day subscription to the Athletic just to read what Tony Jones has to say, I would.

Another Indiana deal would be Joe for Lamb and Craig... Indiana is leaning up against the tax this year so likely would want some breathing room depending on the other stuff they do.

Gets them a little breathing room this year... gets them off of Craig's deal for next year.

I really hope we don't trade Joe. He won't play more this year, but he's still a locker room presence.

Indiana can get to about 30M in space by offloading Craig and Holiday. Maybe more if they move Sabonis.

They are a small market team obvi, but there are some intriguing free agents they could get in on... if they tried.
