Blaming no moves on bad contracts MJ handed out lol.

Lol. You sound like lotto addicts. Keep buying tickets and eventually God will call your number. Just be patient.

Dumars handed those contracts out

I think that the time for big moves has come. I don't mean right away(this coming trade period), but very soon we should be looking for a big score. Maybe at draftnight, maybe a trade or in free agency in the summer, but this is the last season I am willing to watch complete mediocrity(and that's putting it mildly). I want our assets turned into something tangible basketball-wise. We have 5 firsts and 10 seconds in the next 4 years, we have a ton of young players. It's time to shoot for the stars.

With all that said I want Hayward on the team. He's one of the few sure things on that roster and I don't want him to be traded, unless it is a crazy offer we can't refuse.

Maybe turn a fifth into a first pick, maybe trade several picks and a player for an all-star or borderline all-star. Add some veteran leadership off the bench(and preferably players who can actually play and are not complete liabilities on one side of the floor(Novak))... It's time! I can feel it...

Luckily for us, Utah is in a pretty good spot to make a significant trade sometime in the next year. This team is actually in a pretty good spot for a rebuilding team. Now it's just a matter of stockpiling assets until the right opportunity comes along.
Where is this stockpile of assets you keep alluding to? The Jazz have a few players who grade out as solid starters on bloated deals, a bunch of mediocre young players, and one extra late 1st round pick. DL's been bleeding assets since he took over for KOC.

We have a team full of young players, and we could potentialy trade 2 consecutive 1sts and about a million 2nds. We have assets to trade for some established players, hopefully in the offseason. Again, doesn't mean we're going to be guaranteed anything, but we have assets. Maybe I'm being a little homeristic with my assessment, but I don't see the doom and gloom you do.

For anyone interested, here is a link that shows our incoming and outgoing picks.

^So this.

I think Exum's a keeper. Hayward's a keeper. But that's it. Everyone else should be available.

Exum
SG
Hayward
PF
Okafor/Towns

That's a team I can get excited about this time next season.

1. With Gordo, Favs and Burks making big money, and Enes expiring, I'm not sure the young players have as much trade value now as they had when DL took over.

2. A bunch of 2nds and one extra late 1st don't have that much trade value.

3. I get that DL wanted to see what he had. What worries me is the only asset he's cashed in is his 2013 cap space (for what will be two late 1sts), even though many/most are losing value over time.

Good idea. I say we trade him for a bunch of picks. Then we trade the rest of the team for more picks. Then we trade the picks for other picks. If we play our cards right, we'll end up with:

PG: Pick - Pick
SG: Pick - Pick
SF: Pick - Pick
PF: Pick - Pick
C: Pick - Pick

I'd be really excited to see what that team can do. And if one of the players doesn't pan out, we can easily trade him for a pick.

The essence of tank talk.

I shouldn't be surprised but the impatience of Jazz fans is hilarious. I thought it would take more than 20 games before the excitement wore off. Trading Hayward now would be the dumbest thing the Jazz have ever done.

Did you guys expect Exum and Hood to come in and lead the league in scoring? Exum just turned 19 before the season, hasn't played organized ball in a year and it was against a bunch of high schoolers. Hood was the 23rd pick and got injured. If you can't see that he has some NBA skills I don't know what to say. What about Gobert, people were ranking him as the best Jazz center of all-time before the season and now reality sets in a little and people are down on him.

You guys forget that players make mistakes and have to work hard to get better. Exum, Gobert, and Hood have a lot of room for improvement. Remember, Stockton and Malone took almost their whole careers before they got to the Finals. Both Hayward and Favors are a lot better than they were a few years ago.

Have you guys even considered how tough the Western conference is? Jazz definitely need some more scoring off the bench and they have assets to make moves but it is ridiculous to start talking about blowing up the team 20 games into the season (of year one of the real rebuild). Jazz at this point should keep Favors, Hayward, Exum, Burks, Gobert and Hood. They have to decide if they are going to keep Burke and Kanter, if they aren't then trade these two guys to get another pick and a solid vet who can score.

This may be the worst thread of the year. Holy Christ. Hayward has taken a massive leap forward this year imo, has shown he's the only player on the squad who's for sure worth a God damn and starter material on a championship team and we want to trade him?

I'd rather trade Burke, Burks, Kanter and Favors, all together for the right to Joel Embiid before pulling some stunt like that.

I think the rhetoric re: Lindsey is hilarious.
Yes, by all means, let's go back to the "fight for the #8 seed" mentality. I know I was SO pleased to see Utah getting embarrassed by San Antonio and the Lakers in the playoffs. Kudos to KOC for getting decent value for Deron. And kudos for starting to unwind our big salaries without taking back bad contracts in return. But KOC was unwilling to do a full rebuild and tried to restock the Jazz with veterans on the cheap (Mo Williams, Foye, etc.).

Lindsey came in with a different strategy. He wanted a full rebuild. And if you go back and look at the DN or Trib, the FO was pretty openly divided. It was no secret KOC and the Millers wanted to keep Millsap and others. DL won the battle when the GS deal went down. It is WAY too early to judge the outcome or say he's "bleeding assets." And not every move is going to be a home run. He used assets to move up and get Burke. Trey was projected by many draft experts to go higher. Looked like a steal; didn't work out that way. But DL also maneuvered to get Gobert and get Neto. I'd say Gobert is amazing value for where he was picked. By NOT stocking up on veterans just to make a run at the 8th seed, Utah had a poor record and drafted Exum. The extra GS pick netted us Hood. We haven't even BEGUN to realize returns on those guys.

Yes, definitely fire Lindsey. He hasn't brought a superstar to Utah. Of course, no one else in the 35 year history of the Utah Jazz was able to do so, either - except via the draft. And that is EXACTLY his argument. The only real chance Utah has at a franchise player was last season (Exum) and this season (?). And that's why it was so important to go young and NOT bring in a bunch of mid-tier vets just to increase the win total a bit and drop Utah into the late lottery.

Lmao. This last year you accept mediocrity yet Jazz have never won a title. Utah is not a free agent destination period. Sooner people accept that sooner you can accept just making pkayoffs. You act like your the Celtics or Lakers and making the playoffs simply isn't good enough. Your the Utah Jazz, Zero championships. It's not a knock either because lots of teams have no chips and are lottery bound year after year. Like the kings. Would you rather be a Kings fan? If you just want a winner go be a warriors plan. Since you won't accept this anymore that means you need a new team. Maybe you can sell your fandom. People do that. I have read about it.

OMG, the Celtics announcers even said at the end of the game, "The Jazz have never won a game here with Hayward on their team, but they have never lost with him not on their team. Just kidding Hayward". OMG THE FIRE IS BURNING IN BOSTON!!!

Huh, where did this come from? You realize that that's a post from December of 2014. At that point we had 5-15 record. After 25 wins the previous season. I also am usually very far from impatient with this team. If anything I've always advocated prioritizing the long-term view. This is an all around weird post... I'm not an American. I have zero connection with the state of Utah. Yet I've been a fan of the team since the first NBA games that came to my neck of the woods when I was a kid in the early-mid-90s. Changing my team had never crossed my mind so I don't know why it would now? I understand the realities of small market teams.
