Trade: Millsap+Big Al for KG's expiring 21 million+Brandon Bass+2 first round picks+fillers

Al + Harris = $23MM
Rondo = $10MM

The only possible "filler" would be Allen at $10MM as well, and a Al+Harris for Rondo+Allen just doesn't seem like something Ainge would sign off on
O'Neal and Wallace make over 12 million combined, and both have expiring contracts. I haven idea how how much Ainge values those two but I don't see much risk on the Jazz part.

If the fans approved trades this thread would make some sense, but we don't and never will. So your question is nothing more that rhetorical nonsense. If someone knows what Ainge and KOC think, let us in on it, otherwise silence in our overblown grief is preferable. Celtic fan's are apparently just as distraught as most of us. But something is happening out there, i can smell it. Or is that just the Great Salt Lake rolling over.

You do know this is a place where people go to talk about their teams, right! Do these comments make you feel smart or like a winner. You must be one of those people that carry a picture of yourself in your wallet from a time when you were fat, then pull it out to show others how great you are. We are going to ask our rhetorical questions and intertain them. It's fun to pretend to be KOC. If this bothers you it might be better to keep your mouth shut or just not log on!

PG: Rondo/Watson
SG: Eric Gordon (KG Cap Space)/Burks
SF: Hayward/Gilchrist
PF: KG (If Resigned for 4-5 mil)/Bass
C: Favors/Kanter

I'm not sold on trading Millsap for cap space, but this isn't a bad idea. Jazz lose talent wise but I think they win building for the future, saving money, and filling one of the gaping holes. They are not going to draft a 1,2, and 3 over the next two years and combine that with quality development from the bigs. Too Cinderella.

Right now there's no outright talent shining threw (beside maybe Kanter). We all like the rooks and sophs, but lets face it. Most All Stars show they are going to be one in their first year. Hell, Burks isn't even showing me Wes Matthews level talent yet.

I also don't see why Boston sells us their cap space for our mediocrity.

You are not getting our bigs, you are getting one big in Bass, you get KG for the cap room to go after some elite wings that you mention to help your young big men. You are also getting picks, whilst improving your own pick to a possible lottery position.
The Celtics have great defense even without KG. What we need is rebounding and scoring in the paint a lot more than KG's defense.
Millsap would replace KG and Big AL would replace Jermaine Oneal for us, hopefully making us a legit contender this year and next.

Hate to say it but you guys are done contending. The big three are just too old and won't bring back even a Millsap or Jefferson caliber player.

If fans approved trades?
I was under the impression that Millsap and Big Al were quite polarizing, and basically getting in the way of your two young bigs, I noticed on some blogs that big Al was touted as 'the black hole', but you guys obviously value Millsap more than I thought even if he is in the way of the youngsters. So point taken.
A forum of basketball addicts like this one is the best place to get an idea on this when I myself have no idea about the real situation in Utah.

Thankfully I got the answer I was looking for, which is basically 'hell no'.

I'm sorry if I've offended you, I really had no idea you would view this as so one sided.

Now that dream is over, what would Utah fans be willing to give up for Rondo. Any of the young bigs or Millsap+one of those high draft picks?
I'll make a new topic on your board to ask.

On the topic, I'm curious why Jazz fans would be interested in 2012 cap space. 2013 looks stacked (with extensions to come, obviously), and the Jazz are currently set up perfectly to have LOADS of space then. If the Jazz wait it out one more year, see what they have, and what Millsap/Al can fetch when teams are desperate, they may have cap space and some really nice assets to make a big push starting the summer of 2013. Just have to wait it out another year+.

BOS: Millsap & Harris & GSW 2012 top 7 protected pick or Jazz 2012 1st rounder

UTAH: Rondo & Bass

Deron Williams. J/K.

FA next year kind of sucks. I'd like to see the Jazz add one piece (1, 2, or 3), as well as draft one piece (1, 2, or 3). FA is a long shot on a handful of players. I'm more interested in cap space as a piece of a complete overhaul strategy where the Jazz could get lucky but so what if they don't.

It is not cap space that I desire. It is taking away Corbin's ability to bury the young players behind Jefferson and Millsap another year. I can handle losing if development is happening. What Ty is doing right now is slowing the development. I can't handle another summer of "Jefferson is in the best shape of his career" talk.

Technically we don't own our pick, as you said Minny does (even though it is lottery protected). It would be like GS trading their pick (even though we own it). I just don't think you can trade a pick with contingencies. If you don't outright own your pick, I'm fairly confident you can't trade it. But once the season is over (and the lottery), GS and us would then be allowed to trade the picks.

You can't trade future picks in consecutive years. Due to the stipulations on the pick we owe to Minny, the pick must be conveyed by 2014. Therefore, as long as that pick is owed, Utah can't trade a future first before 2016.

However, the rule only applies to future firsts. Therefore, if Utah keeps their pick this year, they could make the pick for another team, and then trade it.

Also, cap space this year would negate our abilty to use the Memo TPE in the offseason. I'm still hoping KOC can pull off some major pwnage before the deadline. Maybe use the TPE to gain a pick by taking on expiring salary in a deal to facilitate a 3 team deal, and then a trade with AL or Sap combined with CJ/Howard/Harris. I actually hate to give up on Al or Sap, but I think it's the necessary next step in building the team. It's probably more likely they'll do what you are saying, but I'd really like to see more minutes for Favors/Kanter if we're just a lottery team(and we are). I know, I know, it's serious...and I'm probably dreaming.

The one thing I don't want to see, is to keep the team just as it is, with maybe a minor tweak/s, and the idea of sneaking into the 8th seed. That will frustrate the hell out of me.
