Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

....and added another ring in the mix. On top of adding the top talent maybe the NBA has ever known. They botched the team around him, but he still went. There will always be players that want to play in LA.
I know... but I'm saying the last 10 years or so if you had the Lakers pick... that is a very good thing most of the time. The organization disfunction is the reason I would want the picks even though the weather is so nice.

JC is the one I'd like to keep if possible if we are getting only one pick. If they will give two they can take the combo they want.

Another thing that makes a trade more possible right now is they can put the pick they own this year in a swap... now NO and LA are in the same relative spot... so swapping the Philly pick with the worse of the NO or LA pick might be pretty nice. So if its JC and we get one pick plus a swap... I could get down with that.
Jordan is opting out of his contract next year, and so he is basically a free agent. I think because of that he has a little leverage as we might be able to get more for him from a team he is willing to re-sign with. It's possible the renewed Lakers talks are based on us talking with JC, him telling us he won't be re-signing here, and is wanting to go back to the Lakers.

I'd feel pretty good about resigning JC, but there is a real risk of him walking for nothing.

Conley isn't worth much to me going forward, Gay is obviously a negative. I think we should count our blessings if we get away with a premium pick for JC on an expiring contract.

The thing about a trade with the Lakers is that there are about a half dozen trades that we could do with them that make some sense for both teams. We have a lot of parts and pieces and we can absorb Wesbrook if the price is right.

JC chucking can be replaced by Westrbrook chucking if we really want it. Or Westbrook can be bought out.

For me, it's all about what the Lakers want compared to alternatives I have lined up with other teams.

If the Lakers want Beasley but I already have a first, then I sub in someone else. They can have THT back instead. If the Lakers want Olynyk, Conley, and filler... that is fine.

JC is clearly a fan favorite and was nice to have here during a bridge year that most expected to be a terrible season. But he doesn't really fit our timeline and I'm sure he'd prefer to be on a contending team as his carer winds down.

The bubble championship means more for his legacy then him returning to Cleveland and bringing his hometown their first championship ever? lol
Against one of the greatest teams ever in the 73-9 Warriors. Beating Herro in the bubble means more???
Time will tell. No one sees it as "the bubble" championship besides die-hard fans trying desperately to attach an asterisk as to why their team didn't win it and trying to diminish the Laker's championship. For the vast majority it will be the crown jewel in King James' crown.

I just don't see the Lakers budging on their desire to keep their draft assets in house for a deal that doesn't put them anywhere near contending.

We have had a fantastic season. We have seen the pieces we want long term. We have featured enough guys to be on everyone's wishlist around the league.

We Cash in now with the some of the featured players, collect more assets, have a terrible 10 - 20 finish to the season, bottom out at 5th worst, and jiggle those lovely balls, the lottery ones, just the right way and it has been a stellar season.

I'm not worried about JC walking for nothing. He will want to make 20M+ on his next deal. The teams with cap space are pretty awful and I don't see Orlando or Indiana making a big offer for him. So if he wants to get somewhere he wants to be... he'd need to work with us on a sign and trade. The return may not be ideal but I'm not super worried about it.

I'd put JC in a deal with the Lakers though... I think if you look at the production its actually a really good value for them. You are right maybe some of the pivot on the Lakers end is us being more willing to put him in a deal. I could see him being very happy there.

Agreed. If they trade JC to the Lakers it's because JC outright told them he wants to sign with the Lakers in FA. In that case you take the FRP which is the better option than keeping him the 26 games that will be left after the deadline and then losing him for nothing.

Chris Haynes is reporting this morning that "rival teams believe they have FRP offers for Beasley". Maybe it's just smoke.

TBH I would be thrilled if Ainge can somehow come out of this deadline with one FRP. If he can somehow finagle more than he is truly a magician.

LeBron and the Lakers have been clowned for the "Mickey Mouse ring" since they won it. Not sure how the bubble championship where he got 5 months of rest during the season against Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, and Duncan Robinson is more impressive than beating the best regular season team in NBA history, coming back from a 3-1 deficit, and doing it for his hometown team that had never won a ring. That was one of the most iconic series in NBA finals history, the bubble finals was terrible, lol.

Thinking out loud a bit... I have thought we are too good to tank even with a trade of Malik/Vando... but I think trading JC to LA would leave a void that would send us down the standings.

I guess since I'm team tank I probably have to grit my teeth and do it. Then in FA we make a big offer to JC that LA has to match and stick it to them.
