Trey Burke FG% and 3p%

Trey needs to be able to shoot everything else about his game is not good enough to overcome his lack of shooting. Even a guy like Exum could get by without shooting well because of his size and athleticism this is not the case for Burke. He might be due for a phantom injury to give him some time off and hopefully come back reset.

Not all the blame should go to DOL, wasn't Burke Corbin's guy?

That is what DL has said. I would not give DL or the rest of management a total pass on that pick though, even if Ty was the main push. If they really thought it was a mistake, they should have over-ruled him. Interesting though that in the next draft what does DL choose? A PG.

Also, I read before the draft this year that guys who make the NCAA final four are way over-drafted, like 10 spots too high. Surprising that they could not see thought that his physical attributes were insufficient for a high pick: short, no hops, limited quickness.

you might want to look into the beginning of Hayward's sophomore year.

December: FGA 3.0-8.0 (.375) 3pointers 0.8-2.5 (.300)
January: FGA 3.0-7.9 (.381) 3pointers 0.7-2.5 (.263)
February: FGA 3.8-7.9 (.479) 3pointers 0.3-1.7 (.160)
mmmk. Look at the overall percentage. Never down to 30% as Trey's is right now. And I think after Gordon's rookie season, in which he shot 49%/47%, we KNEW Hayward could shoot. We DON'T know the same about Trey as this season's suckitude comes on the heels of a 38%/33% underwhelming performance in 70 games last year.

As for blame, yes, DL should take some heat. I don't care if Ty wanted Trey or not. But as I said in another post, I remember reading the Jazz really wanted a specific big and heard he would be gone at 14. That prompted the move up. Trey had been projected higher and he was BPA. I really don't fault the pick. What I do fault NOW is that the Jazz have NO other PG's on the roster (other than a rookie they don't want to start). They have a roster spot open; they should be the ones claiming guys like A.J. Price off waivers. Not sure what the waiver rules are early in the season. I'd guess right now it would be based on this year's record. But after 2-3 games? Have to think previous season's record is included. I believe Price was waived back on Nov. 1. If the Jazz can't trust Ian or Murry to pick up minutes for a struggling Trey, then those two shouldn't be on the roster.

I just want to thank trey for taking most of the criticism so it isn't all falling on alec who is also struggling to find his outside shot.

Also want to thank kanter for carrying the load during the first few games

Alec's outside shot so far is actually about the same or even better than last season. Where he is really struggling is at the rim right now. It's much less worrying to me than Trey though because we know Alec just must be in a slump at the rim cause he typically is a great finisher. With Trey, we don't really know if he is a good shooter in a slump because he has never been a good shooter.

Lets face it, Trey isn't a starting point in this league. He could be an energy guy off the bench, but he just doesn't move the ball enough for Quin's offense. When he gets the ball, he wants to figure out how he can get his shot off. he seems like he could care less where the other players are and how to get them involved. He has a hard time getting inside the key and forget about him finishing near the rim. His push shot is awful. DL needs to face it and move him before he wrecks our season.

Myth huh?...

"Lindsey credited Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin for pushing Jazz management toward making the decision to trade for Burke and explaining "why Trey fit with the program."

You could still stay management was saying these things at the time to get the fans on Corbin's side. At the time the deal was thought to be a steal for a good PG, so it made Corbin look good (at the time).

I guess you could say about anything.

Doesn't this just mean that he's gunna average like 80% on threes for like a month an a half sometime? You know cause of statistics and runs.

Well Chucker Smiles had declining stats for 4 years before Utah decided to finally give up on him. Hate to poke holes in your theory, but there's the equal likelihood that Trey actually peaked last season at 38%/33%.

Metrically, by most measures at least, hes in the bottom 5 of ALL PGs in the league so far. So, its possible he doesn't even pan out as a bench guy. His struggles are insane, JLIIIs tutelage from last season is really paying dividends...

I think shooing coaches are working with Trey to get better mechanics for his shot but now he is inbetween his old shot and developing hs new shot. His mechanics seem different every shot. Hopefully he can get good mechanics down and become a better shooter. I also think Trey doesnt really like Utah and Salt Lake City. He seems depressed about life. Probably not a good long term fit for Jazz

why does Burke look depressed:?

didnt he just send our his ding dong to a female and he had a pregnant girlfriend?

maybe he has some big personal problems going on right now too.

definitely looks like it. it just seems like there is a heavy cloud hanging over his head.

This is an irresponsible post. It's grasping at straws at best. Burke has always shown to be stoic.
