What's new

Trey Burke

was still talking Fredette,in general, nothing about Trey in a trey thread... I don't really care about trey, neither burks or lyles...
No, I mean about holding breath about him playing in the NBA. I didn't mention anything about Fredette in the NBA. Just China.

Terms of the deal were undisclosed, but some speculation that he was on the high-end of Euroleague which would put him over a mil. He's had a great life, a life most of us would love to experience, and yet I know it stings that his NBA dreams are now I would think officially over.

Dreams are shattered everyday; most of them don't end up with the shatteree still making an income putting him/her into the 1%.

If Jimmer were sufficiently self-reflective, he could have/should have realized years ago that the NBA for him was no more than a pipe dream.

:) so, you mean the Fredette pipe dream of $10M NBA career earnings? and the yuan and euro to boot...
play or not, I'd take that pipe dream :)

Though I'm inclined to agree with your sentiment as I interpret it, I do feel as though, had Jimmer started out as a more team-oriented player, playing both ends of the court, his talent level was such that he definitely had a legitimate shot.

Sixers Twitter is irrationally exuberant about TB

Yeah the funny thing is their burying their guy Shake Milton who's on a cheap rookie deal in the process, which isn't a good bet I dont think.

What if Burke starts out cold? how much of a leash does he really have? we'll see.

John Stockton was an elite athlete

Depends on how you define "athletic" and how you define the word "elite"

When people say "athletic" they are often talking about explosiveness, speed, quickness, vertical, etc.

When people say "elite" is that top 5% NBA guard? Top 20%? Top 40%

So you compare him to Westbrook, Mitchell, Exum, Vince Carter, etc, etc, and you say "elite" is top 5% NBA guard, the answer is "no"

But the fact that there is more to athleticism than explosiveness, speed, quickness, vertical, I think may be your point and a good one.

At his peak, John was fassst. He also changed speeds and direction really well. And the important part was that, at any direction or speed, he had incredible coordination (cf. one-hand, off-the-dribble passes, etc.)
