Exactly. Don't tangle with Zelensky. Don't talk to him. Don't have anything to do with him. The messages being sent out by the White House sounds like they've got the message about tangling with Zelensky. Their updates immediatly following the meeting were:

– HE DID NOT WALK OFF ON HIS OWN -RARE MINERALS DEAL WAS NOT SIGNED.

– WH SAYS “UKRAINIANS WERE BEGGING TO RESET” BUT RUBIO AND WALTZ INFORMED THEM ZELENSKYY NEEDS TO LEAVE WHITE HOUSE GROUNDS, RETURN WHEN HE’S READY FOR PEACE

– THE PRESIDENT AND US OFFICIALS FELT DISRESPECTED BY ZELENSKYY’S RHETORIC AND DEMEANOR

– CITED THAT HE WAS “SHRUGGING AND ROLLING HIS EYES” DURING THE CONVERSATION

**WHEN I WENT TO UPPER PRESS TO ASK WHAT WAS GOING ON, THE LUNCH THAT TRUMP AND ZELENSKYY WERE SUPPOSED TO DINE ON AND TALK OVER WAS SITTING IN THE HALLWAY. I’M TOLD WHITE HOUSE PRESS OFFICE STAFFERS WILL BE EATING IT.

She had an annoying laugh and was not a gifted communicator off the cuff. The reason she was a terrible candidate has more to do with American voters than with her. Spoiler alert: it was because she is a woman and not white.

Yeah. A complete and total failure of diplomacy. It doesn’t even matter what the plan was, it was his job to bring Zelenskyy along. He failed. Same thing happened with ACA and McCain! It’s like Trump likes to **** over war heroes. Jealous?

it was his job to bring Zelenskyy along. He failed.

It is not Trump's job to save Ukraine. That is Zelensky's job. We, the United States, have been willing to help the Ukrainians both because what Russia did was wrong and because Russia is an adversary that we'd like to see taken down a peg, but we are not the world's police. It is not our responsibility to right wrongs. It is not our job. Trump was doing Ukraine a favor by stepping in to help end their bloody war. Instead of using the opportunity to help bring about an end to the war in Ukraine, Zelensky chose to bite the hand that feeds.

Trump should send him home. If Zelensky cannot be counted on to put his country above his own ego when his country needs us as much as it does, then he's of no use to us or to the Ukrainians. As for Trump's ego, it doesn't matter because we don't need any deal and Trump can't run for reelection. Let's call this a failed diplomacy and the two countries can go their separate ways.

Zelensky did say that, but then at the end of the interview apologized. If the Trump White House were in the mood to rekindle the deal, Leavitt would have seized on Zelensky's apology instead of Zelensky's vow to not apologize.

It seems clear that Zelensky wants what you all want: to keep fighting Russia. Trump wants to end the war, and has given up on Zelensky as a negotiation partner. Trump is now shifting gears to put his focus on the US economy. Zelensky can go home. In Trump's words at the end of the clip "Either we're going to end it or we're going to let them fight it out". It appears the former is off the table.

Not sure what you responded to, but based off your post I had the idea that it would be awesome if the EU made a minerals deal with Ukraine next week and they offered security guarantees.
