Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

He is a joke and it was a joke when Trump endorsed him for the PA primary. It's even more embarrassing that he lost to whatever condition Fetterman was in at the time. However, as far as I can tell, this is the first time a physician will hold this role since about 15 years ago, and that person served for maybe a year? On the flip side, you have guys like Andy Slavitt who filled that role, with their background being a bachelor's degree in history and an MBA. Despite that, however, guys like Slavitt become influential voices on things like COVID, even becoming appointed as a "senior COVID advisor" to this administration. It was always fun as the only physician on this board in the COVID days and seeing the juxtaposition with the "trust the experts" crowd propagating the opinions and tweets of the Aaron Rupars and Andy Slavitts.

Tl;dr while it appears ridiculous and attention is drawn to the idea that Oz, who’s known, is unqualified for this position, absolutely no attention has ever paid to the hordes of unqualified people in that post previously (with no medical or healthcare background). Go ahead and see if you (the person reading this, not specifically Sardines) can name any of the people who have filled this post before. If you do know them (you don’t), do you know their qualifications or are we just operating off the idea that everyone who has filled this post before is qualified until now.
I don't think anyone has espoused that position. But with someone like Dr. Oz it becomes pretty obvious long before he sits in the seat that his pseudoscience endorsements and conspiracy mongering, not to mention endorsing straight up dangerous treatments for benign conditions will not translate well into this role. We can talk about the current guy and not like the previous guys too. Yeah you are right, we don't know much about who has filled this role before. But I am sure most people don't know who has filled other similar roles but they would still recognize the irony when suddenly Gwyneth Paltrow is being put in to lead the FDA or something. We can see exactly what she brings to the table and recognize the potential for damage in that role. Largely, for many of these roles, the most critical thing needed is stability and consistency and a willingness to work with the experts to generate decent results, as well as the ability to run a large organization effectively. As someone who has run large organizations effectively (multiple buildings and over 1k employees in big box distribution), I can sat that is a very particular skill-set that not everyone can do effectively. An MBA can certainly help prepare someone for that, whereas a medical degree does not necessarily prepare one for that level of management.

So, can you tell us what Slavitt did that caused damage to the federal government or society directly as a result of him holding an MBA instead of a medical degree? I am genuinely curious how his influence affected the reaction to COVID. Google doesn't give me much in that regard.

I did find this, which seems to be measured and balanced in approach. What did he do to destabilize the position due to his inexperience as a medical professional?

I think the biggest concern for someone like Dr. Oz being put in that role is he has shown overwhelmingly that he fully embraces his place in the Dunning-Kruger spectrum and goes headlong into the abyss to the detriment of his followers.

We do not need someone with that track record taking on such a position, especially when all signs point to him blindly following the directions of Trump to enact Trump's vision of big business and high taxes on the middle class, and who knows what in regards to medicine. As someone caring for aging parents, the possible damaging outcomes are terrifying. Are you saying you think Dr. Oz will be exactly as effective, or non-effective, as Slavitt? What is the evidence for that assumption?

Or are you just a Trump supporter leaning pretty heavily into an appeal to authority (placing yourself in the position of the authority you are appealing to, no less) in an attempt to get a "gotcha" on the sheeple on the "other side"?

I know I'm not the first one to say this, but this news is about as good as it Gaetz.

He says he withdrew to "not be a distraction" but that is a lie. The real reason he withdrew: Sources told ABC News in the last few days it became clear to the Trump team that Gaetz was not going to have enough votes for a Senate confirmation with sources close to the president-elect telling ABC News "no path to 50" senators.

Either way, Im glad he is no longer in the running. Now we wait to see what other horrible choice trump makes for the position.

Great

Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene said on Thursday she will chair a U.S. House of Representatives panel on government efficiency, working with billionaire Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy in their effort to streamline the U.S. government.

Here is a sample of some of the outrageous things she's said:
1)9/11 attacks were at least partly conducted by the federal government.-
She also suggested that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was replaced with a body double before her death in 2020.
-Greene asked Kamala Harris whether her husband, Doug Emhoff, was "worth less [because] he's white?" He's Jewish.
-Joining Military 'Like Throwing Your Life Away'-
After the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed two children had caught monkeypox in July, Greene tweeted: "If Monkeypox is a sexually transmitted disease, why are kids getting it?"
-On July 4, seven people were fatally shot at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, Illinois, and two police officers were gunned down in Philadelphia.Greene said: "Two shootings on July 4: One in a rich white neighborhood and the other at a fireworks display. It almost sounds like it's designed to persuade Republicans to go along with more gun control."
-Global Warming 'Actually Healthy for Us
.-January 6 Attack on Capitol Just 'a Little Riot'.
-Greene accused Walmart of "participating in the grooming and sexualization of children," after saying the retail giant was selling sex toys near children's toothbrushes. A lie.
-Union Monument 'Honors Confederate Soldiers'

Politicians haven't worked for the people in decades. They work for the highest bidder. The people only have so much money to give, billionaires can endlessly enrich their pet politicians. They only need us to vote and give them the power. Their corporate masters tell them what to do with that power.
