And I wouldn’t blame them. What Trump and his supporters are pushing is an end of democracy and the start of autocracy. The GOP has already gotten comfortable with minority rule, where they don’t even win the most votes to win. Now they’re pushing to actively subvert the will of the people.
If that succeeds, then it’s time for (small d) democratically caring states, states that care about voting, will of the people, rule of law, etc to secede from the authoritarian and autocratic caring ones. The south can finally have the autocratic and authoritarian Trumpistan it obviously wants. But that doesn’t mean the rest of us should. I suspect Utah would probably cream itself to be a part of an authoritarian autocracy that pretends to be a reactionary theocracy (is there any other kind?) by abolishing abortion and promoting white patriarchy. So I’d probably have to move. I don’t know how i could afford to live on the coasts. But I don’t want to live where voting and elections don’t matter...
