Trump's Coup Attempt

I think the biggest thing that surprises me in all of this, sadly, is that so many Republicans are surprised at Trump’s behavior.
How could you NOT see this coming from miles away even before he was elected in 2016?
If you didn’t you were completely disregarding the logical side of your brain.
Agreed. What happened this week was pretty obvious for months. We all knew Trump wasn’t going to leave gracefully. We knew he was going to stir the pot. We knew he was going to ask his base to do something horrific. We knew his base of nazis would do something horrible, and they did. Seeing Trumpers terrorize the Capitol building and hope to overthrow the government was so predictable

The surprising thing was how incompetent they were, and how ineffectual the police were. Or should I say how complicit the police were?

They were exceptions. The day after Biden is sworn in, Officer Goodman and the family of Officer Sicknick should to be given the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

This is not hyperbole - their names NEED to be in the history books.

It was like what happens if the dog catches the car... okay I got it... now what? Guess I’ll piss on the tires and go home.

The right wanted blood for Jan 6. Blaming that coup attempt on antifa is just laughable

This. As soon as Trump started talking about the election being a fraud months before the election many conversations I had turned to how he would try to hold onto power. We even discussed it here on JF. Yet now all of a sudden, when people have it thrown in their face what a **** Trump is, the "man" they voted for, they have to go into denial to save face. Pathetic.
People will forgive the person who duped them but they'll never forgive the friend who told them that they were being duped.

David Frum explained this perfectly. Let's say you have a friend who met this new financial planner. This financial planner was clearly taking advantage of them. Let's say that you warned this friend about this predatory financial planner. They'll become offended at you because you've essentially called them, "dumb." Even if this financial planner ends up ripping them off. They'll forgive the predator but they'll never forgive you.

I think the same thing here applies. They know Trump has ripped them off. However, they'll never forgive the person who insulted their intelligence by telling them the truth.

I would love for a viable third party to enter the mix. The two party system is getting uglier by the day. Neither side trusts each other and the divide is only deepening.
So much this... I'm so tired of the current BS.

Things are getting a tad absurd...

A lot of crazy **** in this thread. Pompeo can eat an ikea bag full of dicks. This clip is chilling to the bone. And he supposedly wants to run for President. Every single person who aided and abetted Trump should be tried for treason.
