Trump's dictator to-do list

On the dictator to-do list: Gut FEMA. Trump needs to investigate everyone working for that corrupt department. It is unacceptable for a branch of the American government, funded by taxpayers of all political leanings, to instruct that aid only be given to Biden/Harris voters. This is not a conspiracy theory as FEMA has already confirmed they did do this. Any property found displaying a Trump sign was classified as ineligible for aid.

Firing an unnamed someone at FEMA is not enough. Entries were made into government system indicating ineligibility due to Trump support. FEMA did nothing until after Trump was elected, and now appear to be trying to cover their own aces.

I love how people are still living in denial despite entering year 10 of Trump running for president. “If only he could tone down the rhetoric. What if he focuses on issues people care what? Imagine if he did improve health care?”

LOL

Reminds me of fans never ending hope that boozer would make consistent efforts to play defense.

I’m still up in the air regarding how much I care at this point. Were the culture wars just won by MAGA? I’ve had folks tell me, “Trump supporters got what they deserve. They’ll be sorry!”. That assumes they will be alarmed by some of Trump’s “revenge”, or be hurt by tariffs, etc. My reply so far has been “no they won’t be sorry. They will enjoy an Americanized fascistic leader, and they will enjoy hurting people”. But, we’ll see. I do believe if the warnings about the man’s fascistic psychology were meaningless, no point in someone like myself caring what becomes of the country. It would make no more difference than beating one’s head against the wind, and only ramps up inner turmoil and pain. I still don’t believe lies triumph over truth in the long run, but lies can still rule the day for a long time. Putin and Russia one such example of a fake history being the official history. So, if over the next 4 years, Trump has public school history texts rewritten to reflect his “victory” in 2020, that’s kinda tiring to rail against. The entire alternative reality seems like a done deal now. Better to adopt the attitude of a Russian citizen, knowing it’s all BS, to just stay quiet and never rock the leader’s boat. Stay unnoticed. Stay sane in a sea of insanity and irrational fear mongering.

Anyway, I imagine it’s hard not to see “revenge Trump 2.0 style” as part of our upcoming history. It will be galling, given that he tried to prevent a peaceful transfer of power to the rightful winner, is guilty as the day is long, and will now seek to punish the truth tellers and those of us who believed a president has to be held to account for such a violation of our core values and Constitution. Beyond me to understand how moving forward on the basis of a totally phony, lying interpretation of our own recent history is the way of the future. Post Truth=lies are just as valid as facts.

“Eight years after his initial victory, Mr. Trump returns to the White House angrier, more embittered, more aggrieved and more overtly talking about revenge than the last time. His momentary nod to unity on election night led to some predictions that he might ease off the menacing threats. After all, he has essentially gotten everything he wants — vindication by the voters, an election sweep more convincing than his first and the almost certain end to any risk of going to prison himself, especially after the Supreme Court granted presidents broad immunity from prosecution for acts taken in office.

But that may underestimate the depth of his resentment and desire for retaliation after the multiple impeachments, investigations, indictments and lawsuits aimed at him. He may not go after the biggest figures, like President Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris, but allies expect him to pursue at least some of the targets he has singled out. And even if he holds back on some, his mercurial nature means that no one can assume he would not change his mind, creating an atmosphere of intimidation that may inhibit vocal dissent.

“Will Trump retaliate?” asked Gwenda Blair, a biographer of the Trump family. “Of course. The only question is how much will be broad-brush and how much will be targeted.”

“And so, it begins.

Elon Musk, the X owner and shadow president-elect, posted about the special counsel who prosecuted Donald Trump, “Jack Smith’s abuse of the justice system cannot go unpunished.” House Republicans are setting the stage for a probe into Smith’s conduct, warning against any “attempt to purge relevant records.”

One unnamed Trump adviser suggested that Trump, seeking “vindication,” will not want to have the career lawyers who worked on Smith’s team continue to be employed at the Justice Department.

And Trump adviser Mike Davis raised the prospect of various forms of legal jeopardy for Smith. “There should be several investigations: House Judiciary, Senate Judiciary, DOJ Office of Professional Responsibility and a criminal probe,” he told The Post. Davis was more ominous in an interview with Newsmax, saying Smith “should go to prison for engaging in a criminal conspiracy against President Trump.”

No one is above the law. If Jack Smith broke the law then he should be prosecuted. I find it telling how quickly Jack Smith is backpedaling and winding things down. It is almost as if the whole thing was politics all along and now the election is over.

If Trump is not ever going to be held responsible for attempting to prevent a peaceful transfer of power, and for attempting to remain in power, despite losing the 2020 election, then yes, he escaped accountability, and is above the law. If you’re suggesting Jack Smith broke law, and that somehow we, American citizens, must simply accept that we cannot hold Trump accountable for what we all know happened, as outlined by the January 6 committee, then you must be living in another universe that does not recognize reality itself.

If we are going to decide it is OK for us to not hold Trump accountable, then we should at least recognize we have abandoned our democratic values, altogether, and we are OK with following unstable 3rd world models, where Strongmen seize power, rewrite history to justify seizing power, create make believe democracies that pretend to be democratic. We will have approved of Trump’s effort to steal the 2020 election. If we believe in our democratic values and institutions, this is a mistake that essentially says we are abandoning our democratic values and institutions.

How dense are you, by the way? He’s winding it down because he can’t prosecute a sitting president, not at all because the entire prosecution with charges was merely political. Seriously, you actually don’t know this? The guy’s being inaugurated again in 2 months, becoming a sitting president. What choice does Smith have?

If you, therefore, are saying you are fine with what Trump did in the lead up to the 2020 election, and the aftermath, then you are yourself clueless regarding our democratic values, ideals, and institutions. You really sound like you are an opponent of those ideals and values. But, so is Trump, so your attitude doesn’t surprise me.

Anyway, sounds like, like Trump himself, that there’s a great deal you don’t know about America. Including the requirement, if we care to protect what we have at all, to hold our presidents accountable for trying to seize power. Did you even know seizing power after losing is a no-no? Or are you really that ignorant of the ideals of the nation of which you are yourself a citizen? But, it is your right to be ignorant.

“Peter Damerow, who confronted the group says they told him to go back to his country.

“They looked at me and one of them said,” said Damerow. “No this is Pureville now, and we’re here to make sure it stays pure.”

He says he believes the group did this due to the current political climate within the county.

“I really felt like they felt comfortable enough to do this because of Trump’s reelection and what they said to me at the stop light made that quite clear,” said Damerow.“

And you can spare me the usual rationalizations you come up with, like Smith’s appointment was illegal, or no, Trump did not really try to remain in power. You can spare yourself the trouble. A president of the United States attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election, in order to remain in power illegally. If we are true to our values and how we chose our leaders, then that president needed to be held to account. Nothing you could come up with alters that fact. And your last sentence should read: “it is almost as if….the election is over”.

We just had an election. The man taking the oath of office isn't "seizing power", he was elected. He won both the Electoral College and the popular vote. It is weird that lefties think it is democracy only when they win.

You act as if we haven't watched The Rapist's insanity and criminality right in front of our eyes. You're a good cult member, your cult leader would be proud of you.

Man Al is getting more than his money's worth in trolling today. Yikes! Almost makes me want to unignore him and read that post. Almost. But not really.
