TURKEY-FRANCE : FIirst game of the 2nd round

I agree with there being made too much of the 'skinny' thing. Sure, IF Jonnas were expected to play in the low-post and bang with the leagues beefy centers, then he needs a lot of bulking and strength. Who's to say that is where/how he would play if in the NBA right now? I've never been a Jonas hater, just always preferred Kanter.

I also admit that I prefer Kanter because I know his strengths and limitations far better than Jonas'. I am very comfortable that Enes will be a very good PF/C in the NBA and it won't take long. Which of the two will be better? Doesn't really matter. The Jazz selected Kanter, not Jonas, and now I have even more reason to be a Kanter supporter. I do think Kanter was the safer pick and I strongly doubt Jonas has much more upside, if any at all.

Having said all that, I look forward to seeing these kids play their guts out and allow us all to watch it all play out.

huh? He is 19 years old and clearly his offensive game is getting better and better. Clearly he still has a lot of upside. just because one says they think JV will be a very good NBA player does not mean that Kanter will not be.

Sorry, either you didn't read my post, didn't understand it, or I just did a piss-poor job of getting my point across.

Ok, how did i misunderstand this part. I am still on my first coffee, but seems pretty cut and dry. By the way i certainly think Kanter is going to be a very good player for us.

I still like the Tyson Chandler comparison for JV, and the Kevin Love comparison for Kanter.

I agree with the T. Chandler but a little quicker and not as much lift with better offensive aggression.

I actually like the Enes-Malone comparison, not in production, but in body type and basic skills. Enes looks like a fullback; Love looks like a trim pulling-guard on the offensive line. I'm not making any claims on Enes, just his mold.

Ha! Gotcha now. I meant I doubt Jonas has much more, if any, upside than Kanter does. I see how you read it, I admit to the ambiguity.

Ok, cant disagree with that. Both about same age and of course Kanter hardly played the last year. So hopefully we will seem some epic JV-Kanter matchups with Kanter getting the best of him.

Gasol is a prodigy on offense. JV is not. It's a bad comparison.

I simply meant I think Jonas has the ability to develop a perimeter game, yet still remain interior based, like Pau Gasol. There aren't many 7 foot Euro who fit that description, so I think Gasol is a fair comparison. During the draft I remember reading things like "Many scouts have been comparing Jonas to Pau Gasol" type articles, so my opinion isn't bat**** crazy like yall are making it out to be.

Too early to be sure, but I agree with GVC on the Chandler comparison, as a better one. I think a god comparison for Enes, however, is a cross between Kevin Love and Chuck Norris, only better .. on Enes' worst day, with no breakfast .. and double super-duper blindfolded.

Look, if Millsap can go from the player he was into the player he is, then anything is possible. But the one thing that defines Gasol is his prowess and proficiency at offense. It's like saying Kanter is Alonzo Mourning because he runs the floor. It's basically ignoring the one thing a person is identified as ('Zo will always be known for his defense, especially since that was what he continued to do well long after he was a consistent scorer).

Somewhere between Joakim Noah and Tyson Chandler seems right to me for JV if you have to make the comparison.

You cant hit 11/20s every game. They have good offense, but Spain played with them like cat plays with mouse. They made 30 pts in 3rd quarter. Lithuania can only dream about winning the title. They are good at taking advantage of the opposite teams weaknesses with their energy and home court advantage, but they are very LIMITED. It is enough to prove that with Kleizas absence. 19 yrs old Valanciunas is the best big guy, because the other ones suck. Turkey has a few very good players, Hedo, Ersan, Emir, Omer Asik, Omer Onan, Kanter but the problem is they cant manage to finish games. And Lithuania has good guards, Kalneitis and Jasikevicius, but we are opposite. Kerem sucks this tourney, and Ender doesnt have very good pg skills. Probably Turkey will be eliminated at this round, but even know, Turkey has more chance to win the champioship than Lithuania.

And Spain is not going to hit 11-17 3 pointers vs LT in next game either.
No way Turkey has more chance to win it all then LT. You still ignore the fact that LT has better bench then Turkey is best passing team in competition and has better coaching plus huge home court advantage ( and they haven't yet played in new Kaunas arena which will have 16.000 crazy fans cheering for them). Compare last two games, LT 25 assists, Turkey 5 assists. I said Turkey have great individual players who do not know how to play as a team - this will not get you any medals.
Spain is crazy strong team but LT beat them in friendly before the tournament and can beat them in single game. If that would be 7 game series it would be different but one final? why not, Russia did that to on Spain's home floor in 2007 when nobody gave then a chance.
