Unofficial VOTE BALLOU! Poker Night. Sep. 30th at 7pm

Alright, I want to do something to show my support for the VOTE BALLOU campaign, so I'm hosting a poker game.

(This event is of my own doing and is not formally connected to the VOTE BALLOU campaign.)

I will donate anything I win to the campaign.

I encourage everyone else to come meet the candidate and show your support (and play a little poker).

This will be a low stakes cash game (non-tournament). Seating at the table is very limited. Please RSVP soon to make sure you get in! Once the primary table fills up we'll see about setting up a second table.

You do not need to play poker to attend! Come, hang out, have fun, sample some home brews! Everyone is welcome.

It will take place at my house in West Jordan. Starts at 7pm.

PM me or visit my personal forum for more info.

I should have three beers on tap. My house specialty, "Young's Extra Special" ESB, "Rockwell Porter," and "Crystal Vision" Kristallweizen.
Feel free to BYOB. Please drink and behave responsibly.

Does behaving responsibly exclude packing heat this time?

So, I've got two more players and a possible late arrival. I also expect to be able to pick up someone else.

Here's my current list:
Me plus 2 guests and a possible late arrival (3/1)
Trout - unconfirmed (4/1)
Catratcho (5/1)
BabyPeterzz (6/1)
Numberica - maybe (6/2)
Archie Moses - interested (6/3)

So, technically 4 more spots, but Numberica and Archie will get a chance to decline the seat if it fills up.
And just to put it out there again, late arrivals are pretty much encouraged. Not saying it's better to show up late, but people drop out. So, there's nothing wrong with a few people who want to show up after the game has been going for a while.

I'm going to post some cash game specifics in my personal forum because I realize after talking to a few of my buddies at work that not everyone knows what a cash game is.

Archie and Numberica, you guys still interested?

Think of Dave, he needs our help.

There's a good chance I can get one or two more guys to come. Of course that depends on whether my wife still lets me come, considering she just pushed a 9 and a half pound watermelon out of a hole the size of a lemon. It's a boy.

Congrats! Well, I'll understand if you can't make it.

I'll try hard, but with it being only a week away, I don't know what she's going to say. Hopefully the baby will be good (we really deserve a good baby for once) and I'll get a free pass.

Offhand, I'd say a "good" baby is the one who bawls regularly, wants food, and can piss and poop while going goo goo. The "bad" baby is the one who doesn't do all that, usually associated with not breathing either. Any chance you could clean the house up and invite folks over to help change diapers while you take her to a movie? That would be one small step to staving off the pretty normal "post-partum depression" that goes along with moms who are just truly exhausted.

My wife thinks my turning my back on her kids and writing stuff in here is deplorable enough, I bet she'd have a lot more to say about dragging them off to a poker party. But maybe I could pass it off as a meetup with some political activists of some kind. An underground Libertarian "cell" at work!!!!!!! Well, except she IS a dedicated Rep party worker bee. No way I'm gonna be able to fool her, either.

My wife is in the rush of an ongoing population explosion of new nephews and neices, and she will make excuses be able to tend other people's kids. I'm not sure that's a common thing anymore, but I know my wife's family does a lot of that child-care tradeoff business. It's really nice to have people like that around.
