Utah Jazz in desperate need of long term coaching solution

LLF. Trey is JLIII and Favors is all star.
You're my Long Lost Friend?
I said FRINGE all star for Favors and his numbers support that: 16/8 on 55% with nearly 2 blocks/per. Don't know if he'll ever be an all-star in the WC; there are just too many great PF's and he doesn't have the personality nor play in a market where he's going to get enough attention to garner a ton of votes.

As for Trey, I never said he was JLIII. Lucas was a 3rd PG at best. I said Trey looks like a backup. Unless he can improve his shooting, he'll have career like Watson did, bouncing around from team to team, maybe even getting a chance as an interim starter until they can upgrade. Then he moves on to another team.

You are also confused.

Like I said, Utah paid the tax twice, and it was Greg who paid it, not Larry. They paid 3.1 million in 09-10, and then paid 4.9 million in 10-11. Larry said for years that he would never pay the tax, and although he eventually lightened up on that stance, he wasn't around when Utah paid it.

You got me. For some reason, I thought Millsap's offer was matched before Larry H. died. I misrembered. Thanks for the correction. Had Larry H. still been alive, I think he would have also exceeded the tax just as Greg did. After all, he reportedly vetoed an AK trade a couple of times. And that huge contract, along with the ones given to DWIll, Okur and Boozer, meant they were set up to be taxpayers in 09-10...if they decided give a contract to or match an offer for Millsap. I'm sure this was discussed and planned for a few years prior to it happening; all major organizations do 3-5 year budgets. Unfortunately, it also meant they weren't willing to pay an additional $9M in salary and taxes to keep Wesley Matthews for 2010-11.

Isn't it funny, though, that many (and that includes me) have blasted Greg for being a businessman but not a basketball fan like his dad. Yet, as you mentioned, Greg has authorized KOC to exceed the luxury tax 2x and is now assuming some significant business risk - and loss of revenue - by allowing DL to do a rebuild his way (and likely missing the playoffs for 3 years - or more).

Absolutely, and misinformation is my biggest frustration with this board.

You are confused. Larry said he would never pay the tax, and he never did. Utah paid the LT twice, and it happened under Greg, right after he took over.

Laugh like ****.

Maxipad that claimed Greg did not deny LT last year also hates disinformation. You and your alt stifle tower are perfect for each other.

Semantics. Larry H. said he would pay the luxury tax if the Jazz were contenders, but they wouldn't be long-term tax payers. And the contracts were signed, particularly the match for Millsap when Larry H. still owned the team. I have no doubt Greg would likely be willing to pay the tax one year if contracts were to overlap. For example, matching an offer for Gobert but then the next year having Favors or Kanter come off the books. Jazz will never be repeat offenders; Greg doesn't sell enough Toyotas to match the deep pockets of other owners.

You know the Miller Corp is a MULTI BILLION dollar company, right?
