What's new

Utah Jazz vs. Atlanta Hawks (6pm MST/9pm Puerto Ricoooo time)

I'm pretty sure most people think exum has well and truly deserved more minutes then mack.

Yeah, "most people". That must feel tremendous.

What's the flu got to do with confidence?

Nothing. The point was that Hill was still able to be a gamer last night despite dealing with the flu. His confidence is light years beyond Exum's at this point. Part of that is the fact that he is an actual man.

Confidence is a mental thing, if I was exum and mack was getting minutes in front of me, then I would definitely be feeling a little disheartened.

Well, perhaps Dante can console himself by collecting My Little Pony dolls. Now that he has the means, he could amass the biggest ****ing My Little Pony collection on the planet. Then all the scrubs playing in front of him won't matter.

The thing is exum has gone from starting 5 or 6 games in a row to basically a DNP.

Yeah, I wonder why.

Yeah, I wonder if the support and confidence that Popovich gave Hill at the start of his career has had any impact in his development as a player, or the support and confidence given to him by Snyder have anything to do with him having his best statistical year so far.

Players don't exist in a vacuum, this is not a video game, and you expecting a 20 y.o. to act like a 30 y.o. veteran player is silly.

I completely agree that players don't exist in a vacuum. They exist on a team. And if someone on the team is performing like ***, the coach should be able to demand more with exactly these type of methods.

It is the video game mentality that would dictate we simply play Exum until he performs up to the standards of the team, because there are fewer authentic interrelationships to mitigate in the virtual.

Expecting an NBA player to play like a man, (i.e., to be responsible for following the coaches instructions or accept falling out of the rotation) is the only thing that has ever produced good teammates in this league. Everything else has essentially been My Little Pony parades. Coddling that **** is just pathetic.

If a lesser player was getting mins over me, I'd be pissed at myself and work 10 times harder to reclaim what I feel rightfully belongs to me. That's the attitude a Malone, or a Kobe, or a Jordan would display. I think that is what coach is trying to figure out in Exum. Sloan Did the same to Deron in his rookie year and it worked. Williams got mad and took his job back

Deron got benched for a far less worthy player then Mack. It was a call to wake Derons *** up Deron responded the right way, will Exum?

The thought of Popovich coddling Hill is just laughable. Any perusal of "Popovich yells" vids on YouTube will show that he doesn't spare any of his players.

There is a difference though... he would glow about the guy to media. He also still gave him playing time.

Exum needs reps more than anything... can't sacrifice that for the difference between him and Mack.

It's nice knowing that JFC can rely on you as a legend. Please keep your phone on you at all times.

Went to the U game last night so excited to log in and find out the Jazz won with a crushing defensive performance. Some numbers that stood out to me:

Trey Lyles with 10 rebounds, 4 offensive!

Trey Lyles with 5 turnovers

Trey 1/6 3pt.

Rudy with 5 blocks

Rudy 6/7 from FT

Boris 1/6 FG

George and Gordon getting it done

Rodney 3/9 FG

Exum with a block and a steal and nothing else in 5 min.

BOLOMBOY with 2 reb in one minute of play. Imagine if he played 15 min... 30 REB!

Snyder hasn't just given Exum playing time. He has started him multiple times. Snyder has also glowed about players who played well. What difference are you talking about?

Exum has simply performed poorly. He'll get more opportunities.

I'm not so sure. In my experience, well-defined goals/standards and accountability are detrimental to performance and growth.
