Walker Kessler out for the year

Bursitis is miserable. My wife has hip dysplasia and it began to develop bursitis in her hip, which caused her to nearly not be able to walk. It lead to her getting gastric bypass surgery because she couldn't exercise to lose weight and couldn't get around without a cane. Now it is under control and she can walk just fine, but she said that was some of the worst pain of her life, that bursitis. Yikes.

Lauri won't fit within our timeframe though so shouldn't we max trade value while he's playing so well even if it isn't mind-blowing?
Yeah of course, but if Kessler's absence tanks the already bad defense more, they have less pressure to trade anyone if the asking price isn't met. It was my only point. So the silver lining in this situations it might give Jazz extended time to keep waiting offers. I am shocked if Jazz feels pressure to trade Lauri 30 games in, bc Kessler absence Should mean that average and better teams wipe Jazz.

Could it be that the Jazz didn’t want to extend Kessler (Oct 20 was the deadline for it) because their medical staff told them there was a chance the injury might not heal on its own and could require surgery? Idk, just speculating here.
Jazz aren't sure on Walker and that's one of the main reasons for no extension talks. The relationship has been rocky but not unsalvageable. Jazz have commitment issues. I need to get my arms around how the injury impacts this but if they were not trying to lock Walker up for 25M a year last summer and he gets an offer in that same neighborhood or slightly higher... then would they be comfortable now that he's coming off of surgery.

I also think Walk would have known about this obviously and been willing to negotiate an extension even more... right? Like we can go ahead and bury the narrative that Walker wanted too much. They didn't negotiate... whatever their reasons were I guess could be anything.

Hard to know how much the Jazz knew about this, but this is probably good for our position (sans any setbacks this does to Kessler's development). It could create more resentment, however, and now I worry about what kind of contract WAS will offer Kessler that will screw us over.

There was already resentment. Having said that... if I were Walker, I would be FURIOUS!

The guy is a stud. Hoping this leads to incredible Jazz salaries working around the lower valuation and a friggin Ring in my lifetime.

I hear ya, the tank got a massive power increase without Walker slowing it down. But we could have a super-tank. Our young guys haven't shown enough to be confident that Lauri still fits any kind of timeline. He's playing his best ever right now but last year's tank was draining for him and it showed. Shop that ****.

For who? Furious for himself? He was probably offered 20 million and knew he had an injury, he wanted 30, Jazz said naw. He might get less now
