I dont see Steph Curry in the mannerisms. Steph is running off screens, 2 and 3 cuts to get open, mostly off the ball stuff, and a lights out shooter with lots of wiggle.

WCJ is more stout, a likely plus defender, a playmaker, a capable shooter but hardly running off screens, and a savvy player with vet presence for a rookie.

I love what I see, but the play reminds me a ton of Derek Fisher (the player not the liarcheatface). Fisher was a plus defender who didnt require a ton of wiggle, good at setting up others, a capable shooter, a player who made the right read consistently, and full of vet savvy.

This is not a slight, I am super high on WCJ but he isnt being used off the ball running around screens in ANY of those highlights. He didnt cut multiple directions with or without the ball. The floater was the only play that had me thinking steph. He did have 2 hesi's that lead to open layups but that doesnt make him steph.

It's a crazy comp I'll admit, but he just reminds me of Steph so much when I watch him play, minus Steph's quickness. The pace of his game, the court awareness, the lightning quick release, the deeep ball threat, the ability to get his own shot, the savvy defensive plays, the floaters, the ability to finish at the rim, THE MVP CHAMPIONSHIP PEDIGREE! C'mon bro, clutch like Steph.

Just one game but his line was 34 MIN, 20 PTS, 5 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK. That's basically a average Steph line, minus about 5 points.

Also WCJ averages 45% FG and 88% FT for his college career. Steph's career is 47% FG and 91% FT.

And like Steph, he looks cool, calm and collected out there like it comes easy to him. And did you know he didn't start playing BB until high school?

i aint paying to move up the line at mcdonalds when i can go to five guys instead. i don't see it. he's undersized and plays like it. he'll have a hard time getting that great shot off when he can't shoot over his defender and doesn't look like a natural playmaker. i'm saying it here: trey burke 2.0

Here is a list of current NBA guards Walter's size or smaller: Steph Curry, Chris Paul, Mike Conley, Kyrie Irving, Jalen Brunson, Damian Lillard, Kyle Lowry, Drue Holiday... not to mention a bunch of retired hall of famers...

Did you notice that almost all of the small guards you listed were very high picks and did not stay in college for 4 years? They simply had way more talent and their talent was very obvious at a very young age. WCJ does not belong to that group. Of course, we can hope that Clayton on the path of Brunson but players like Brunson are very, very rare.

I think what the Jazz want is to bring in a big guard or wing who initiates, which then makes either Keyonte or WCJ more of an off-ball player and secondary playmaker. Obviously, Darryn Peterson would be amazing.

Completely agree with this. Peterson/Ace/Lauri/Brice/X would be insane offense.

I said this in the game thread, but I'll say it here, too: I think you can see evidence for how well he processes the game on both sides of the ball.

I think WCJ might have the best handle on the team. I also think he processes the game better than most of our players. I believe in his off the bounce game based off of college, although he needs to show it in the NBA to help open things up for him.

I don't think he is an elite passer and I don't think he is a natural playmaker.

As I said- I am not predicting he will be the next Steph or Chris Paul.. but Damian played 4 yrs, Steph played 3 yrs, others on the list 2 years... the big difference between the Kyrie's and Chris Paul's who were picked very high is that the shot ridiculously high percentages from 3.

My point is that I am sure we picked Deron Williams ahead of Chris Paul because of a bias towards a bigger guard. If we had ignored that point of comparison, would we have recognized better intangibles that set Chris Paul apart?
