What's new

What should we ask from Spurs for Lauri?

IMO Lauri doesn’t fit the time line. By the time all these prospects we are adding are ready to win Lauri might be finished being ready to win. A Lauri trade would lengthen our window for building this team into a championship contender.
I get that, but you kind of need to actually be building around something and have some kind of established player, veteran, culture, etc. to grow as a team.

Short of getting a Wemby like prospect we're just gonna have a bunch of kids fighting at the table with no adult in the room. Lauri would really bring a sense of hierarchy and respect to a young team.

I don't want Castle. He can not shoot and he limits the Spurs for the next two to three years because his other qualities make it hard to give up on him quickly.

If we trade Lauri, it won't be because of the picks(wont mind if we get a few more, but we also kinda have too many of those already), but because one team offer us an exciting young player who has the potential to become the "new Lauri". Let's say, Jalen Williams or Cam Whitmore
But 2 top 10 picks in next years draft could give us someone better than Williams and Whitmore potentially.

2025 Atlanta
2025 Chicago
2027 Atlanta
2030 Dallas Swap
2031 Minnesota
Devontae Graham

So three extremely high quality first, a high quality swap, and a mid quality first. Graham is matching salary, allowing Spurs to keep all their players.
Honestly if we get this haul I’m trading Lauri.

I know he loves being in Utah but we’ll have rights over all the rookies anyway, so that’s a wash.

But the issue is Lauri doesn’t fit our timeline whatsoever. Keyonte and Collier and Cody won’t be ready any time soon.

So as much i I love him, it may be time to move in from Lauri.

The question is would the Spurs be down to giving up all those picks?
At the end of the day it's only 4 picks and a swap while they get to keep all their rotation pieces. They still have all their own picks and some left over picks/swaps from other teams.

The curious move at the draft was Spurs trading the pick to Minny.

Why not take another rookie?

Are they maybe looking to add “win now” pieces instead?
