Blow Up (1966) — The inspiration for Depalma’s remake entitled Blowout fifteen years later, the film takes much, much longer to get to the “hook” and the slow burn works. Two exceptional scenes stood out to me. The scene as our protagonist photographs in the park, specifically as he photographs the couple…the other scene about a half hour later as he begins to analyze the photographs from the park. The use of silence and feeling of “process of it all” in both scenes was exceptional.

I don't know if any of you have seen this. If you like noir, this is the noiriest. And Alain Delon is simply one of the most beautiful human beings ever to grace the planet.

Didn't hate it. Didn't find it worth the hype either. I love all the actors. They did a great job. But like everything else, it always comes down to punching them more than or harder than they punch you. But the fight scenes were pretty fresh all things considered.

Unfortunately kung Fu hustle kind of ruined karate action movies for me. The parody was so perfect, nothing else matches up.

Oh I got the philosophy aspect. Just came across as heavy-handed to me. I liked the multiverse aspect. Not dissimilar to jet Li in the one. I just didn't find this as transcendent as it was hyped to be. Thought the story was ok. Special effects were good. Just found it an ok Film. Nothing more.

Question though, how does one watch a movie as a "fill in the blank" movie? Seems like accusing someone of that is just a way to ad hominem what is essentially purely a matter of opinion. "Well you just obviously don't watch movies deep enough if you just see the 'martial arts movie'." Maybe it's was actually just not as good to some people at it was to others.

Was the Shawshank redemption just a prison movie? I'm sure some people think so.

Nah I just found that like so many other movies it boils down to punching.

Watched "Thirteen Lives" on Prime yesterday. It is the story of 12 kids and their coach stuck in a cave in Thailand in 2018. Directed by Ron Howard and starring Viggo Mortensen and Colin Farrell. Tense even if you know what happens.
