Would we be able to get Dragan Bender and a late 1st from Phoenix?
I f#%$ing wish. That would be amazing.

he'd get higher returns investing in eastern European stock.
Most years you can buy a late first. Early seconds are generally more valuable than late firsts
They do have value but late firsts are not terrible valuable. Generally those are the with little upside that can fill role players spots for cheap. Usually that's where the seniors get drafted. Hood should get you more than just that. It's worth not trading him to see what kind of contact he gets offered and risk losing him for a high offer than a late first.

Stashing players is nice but thats not why 2nds are valuable. They are not guaranteed contracts like 1sts. Teams can do a lot more with the contracts. Look at what GS paid for a 2nd. Some years are deep like the last couple years and those picks are more valuable but long term they are not. I think almost every team would rather have the 1st 2nd round pick than the last 1st round pick.Selling 1sts is not that common at all. The first that became Rudy may have been the last one sold.
Early seconds were perceived as more valuable a few years ago for draft and stash purposes but that really isn’t the case anymore.
BKN had to eat 2 years and 30M on the Carroll contract to get a late first round pick and a second from Toronto.
Mid to late first round picks are still very valuable.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ydaf5tgfThey really want shooters. I think Hood for Bender is a possibility. They prefer Chriss long term and Dudley is simply much better right now.
I think he can and is a PF in this league. He is a capable defender that is learning. He misses assignments and messes up but he tries and makes good plays. On offense he is stiff and struggles with a lot of things but he shows a lot of upside and can shoot. He is still a project and Phoenix might not be willing to give up on him since he is so young but Hood might be what they are after. They want to win next year.
Yeah, but most of his shots are from 3. He averages 1.6 shots from 2 per game and more than double that per game from three at 3.7 attempts per game. He is shooting .378 from three.Bender is shootin around %35 inside the arc. But he is 20.

I am not talking about mid round 1sts. I am talking about late 1st round picks. They are worth something, but not that much. They are a pretty meh asset most years.
I would do that in a heart beat. I am not sure Phoenix would. I dont think Phoenix wants to give up Dudley and Bender. They play and like Dudley. I doubt they want Burks and I am not sure they want Rubio even if their fans do. I would try and go Hood for Bender straight up with one of the 10 day guys salaries to make it work. Or I would probably even through in Bradley for him. But our team might still really like Bradley.http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ydaf5tgf
Jazz trade:
Hood
Rubio
Burks
A second round pick
Phoenix trades:
Bender
Dudley
Monroe
One of their first rounders this year
I disagree again... the seconds are valuable because they don't have a cap hold, but if GS could have got the #30 pick for that cash they would have preferred that... they could only sign Bell to a 2 year deal because of cap restrictions.
Seconds in the 30s are what teams are willing to sell. I don't think teams are willing to sell picks in the 20s anymore.
There is an argument to be made that getting a pick in the 35 range for a discount provides more value than getting a pick in the 25 range at a premium.
