If you are dreaming for the impossible you might as well list Durant and go after him.

If we pulled that off I would be pretty happy.
I don’t think any of those caliber of players are obtainable - yet. Jazz need to win and Mitchell needs to develop into a legitimate superstar before that really comes to fruition.

In all honesty, if they were on the open market, the two guys that I think would make the most sense for the Jazz are Niko Mirotic and Evan Fournier. That’s why I think they should go hard after those two.

I hate the free agent options for 2018, and I’m not convinced that 2019 will be any better for them. That’s why I’d focus on making some moves now - while the Jazz have expiring salaries that can be used to make a deal. If a star player actually wants to come to Utah, there’s nothing that says the Jazz can’t move pieces around to make it work - just like GSW did with Iguodala and Houston did with CP.

I’d rather be proactive than reactive.

So Damian Lillard met with Paul Allen for reassurance that they're trying to compete. Does that have any effect on their pursuit of Mirotic? Lillard doesn't need a draft pick...

DL overall I feel has been appropriately proactive with some caution. With regard to actually moving people that are on the roster, however, he's shown to be reactive. Kanter trade was reactive. The only other people he's traded have been Lyles, Pleiss and Burks.

Still think Utah is a better option than Portland to land Mirotic. I expect the Blazers to do something, but I think it’s more likely that they just don’t cut salary and live with the luxury tax than that they make a big move.

Isnt Lillard kind of redundant now with DM?

He sounds like he is saying that Portland might pursue Mirotic.

But no Lillard is not redundant since we have DM. Teams need more than one guy that can create and shoot.

Having 2 more DM's on our team would not be redundant. Honestly we could have 6 DMs and they might not be redundant. Have them play 1-2-3 and then bring the other 3 off the bench. That would be a pretty ****ing good team.

Yeah but what if they just pony up the pick for Mirotic?

Their contracts to come back are atrocious. Jazz will likely offer something comparable with better salaries coming back if they decide to get into the game. Bulls are tanking the **** out of things this year, but that doesn’t mean they want to be tied down to bad contracts to get a mid-first round pick.

Correct both Detroit and Portland can't match unless they send garbage salary back.

Can't they just use their Crabbe exception? Of anyone in the league who's never given a damn about the LT, it's Paul Allen.

ETA: they can also just send Aminu and Vonleh. Aminu has like $7M left next year.

Aminu is an important player for them... their defense goes to poop when he is out.

They can get out of LT this year which is important to avoid repeater tax... I know they have money but it hamstrings the team if they give up a first for a guy and don't dump salary.

Napier and Connaughton are likely gone this offseason because they will be too costly.

I almost just started a Kawhi thread but I figured the whole forum would block me. But seriously, why not try for Kawhi? If he is truly unhappy, he only has one more guaranteed year left on his deal. He could simply walk from San Antonio in 18 months. And good God, what a great fit he would be with Gobert and Mitchell.

What would the first offer be?

Hood, Bradley, Favors, our 2018 unprotected 1st, our 2020 unprotected 1st and a couple 2nd rounders
For a guy that can simply walk in 18 months and is disgruntled to be on THE SPURS?
